Master Of The Seas was an impressive winner of the bet365 Superlative Stakes for William Buick and Charlie Appleby.
The son of Dubawi was making it two from two and put the race to bed with a smart turn of foot approaching the final furlong.
He maintained a three lengths advantage to the line, Devious Company (7/1) chasing him home without ever threatening to land a blow.
Seventh Kingdom (6/1) was slowly away and niggled along for much of the contest but came home strongly for third by the stands' rail.
Appleby said: “That was pleasing. He won at the Rowley Mile and, to be honest, on that day we had the other horse in there, Yibir. They worked the week before and he had put a good bit of distance between him and this horse.
“On the day though this horse was very professional and Brett (Doyle) got off him and said ‘I can’t tell you how good he is, as he has done nothing wrong and just galloped to the line’.
“He just goes about his business at home and is very straightforward. Today I said to William ‘if you are travelling well enough, don’t be frightened to let him roll as he is a relentless galloper’.
“William said he got there too soon and he gave him a little bit of a harder race than he wanted to as he got there and all of a sudden everything just fell away. He is a nice stamp of horse and he has lovely temperament on him at home and what we have seen on the racetrack.
“We might have a look at the National Stakes and give him a trip over there (Ireland). We will give him a little bit of a break as Goodwood would come a bit quick, so the likely route is we will head to the National.
“He has been very straightforward and, dare I say it, one of the horses that has been under the radar slightly.
“William said he wasn’t for stopping there. It is a bit early to be getting too excited where we might be next year, but he is definitely a horse that has got the right attitude and physique to see him go beyond a mile with a bit of luck.”
Buick said: “He really stepped forward from Newmarket, but Charlie always thought he would – as they all do.
“Charlie wanted to run him here. It was a race where nearly all the runners had only broken their maiden, so we were all in the same boat really.
“It was a good performance. I ended up in front too early on an inexperienced horse, but everything stopped in front of me.
“He powered on to the line and he looks a very promising horse. I’m sure he’ll get further in time, but that trip is fine at the moment. He’s not short of speed, though.”
Betfair and Paddy Power initially introduced the winner at 25/1 for the QIPCO 2000 Guineas but cut him to 16s. Sky Bet were more impressed and go 14/1.
