Killarney plans for popular Peregrine Run

Killarney may beckon for the popular Peregrine Run after his admirable run to finish fourth under a big weight in the Galway Plate.

Peter Fahey's stable star arrived at Ballybrit on the back of five straight wins having made hay on his favoured good ground in the summer.

His 11st 9lb burden proved just too much, but he lost little in defeat.

"We were delighted with how he ran in the Plate," said Fahey.

"He's still training away, there are a couple of races at Killarney if the ground is decent down there.

"There's a handicap chase he won last year, but he'd definitely have top weight in that and he might have an entry in a Flat race, so there's a couple of options as long as the ground is nice.

"His hurdle rating is lower, but there aren't many options for him. There's one at Listowel, but that would mean dropping down to two miles.

"We'll aim for Killarney and see what the weather does.

"He just missed the fourth last in the Plate which knocked the stuffing out of him, but with such a big weight, it was a great run and I'd say it was his best ever - he went up another 2lb.

"We'd love to get another run into him because he's obviously in great form."
