Tuesday Gallops Report - Andrew Balding

Our gallops reporter heads to Lambourn and has the latest news from Andrew Balding's yard.

TULLIUS looked on his mettle working at Kingsclere ahead of the Festival Stakes and with Andrew Balding's team on fire, who can say the veteran won't roll back the years on Saturday?

He warmed up for his Goodwood mission with a pleasing first run back in a Listed race at Doncaster and that seems to have done him the world of good.

As a nine-year-old he shows no sign of regression, as he worked as well as much younger stablemates on the grass high above the village.

And on his only previous visit to the course, he showed his ability to handle the undulations with a second placing behind Sky Hunter in the Foundation Stakes.

HIGHLAND PASS is worth a second look in the fillies' maiden at the same venue or one against colts at Chester having been well supported on course before finishing second in a similar event at the Chester May meeting.

She was on her A-game getting the better of a couple of in-form fillies and has obvious room for progression.

SUMMER CHORUS ended the 2016 campaign in good style and will be suitably warmed up for her planned reappearance, also on the Roodeye on Saturday.

Balding enjoys his raids to that arena and Summer Chorus has done well through the winter.

ST MARY'S is another Park House inmate who enjoys galloping around the Chester bends, as she showed with a decisive win there, and will surely go well again if targeting the long distance handicap on the card.
