Both the formbook and the trends suggest that there isn’t much to choose between the top two in the market, FRODON and Cloudy Dream.
The latter finished a narrow second to Smad Place in this race 12 months ago and it is hard to see him finishing too far away again this year on his first start for Donald McCain.
However, Paul Nicholls has his string in excellent form at present and there is every reason to think he can land this valuable prize with Frodon.
The six-year-old acquitted himself well in this sort of company last season and, having had his wind done over the summer, there could be more to come from him this term.
Of the rest, Dan Skelton's Value At Risk has to be considered given he receives over a stone from the top two. He turned in his best performance to date over fences when winning at Ayr in April and he still looks well-handicapped on his hurdles form.
