Drew Brees NFL all-time leader in passing yards

Drew Brees has become the NFL's all-time leader in passing yards, overtaking Peyton Manning's record of 71,940.

The New Orleans Saints quarterback connected with Tre'Quan Smith for a 62-yard touchdown with 2:46 left in the second quarter to overtake the former Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos player.

The score put the Saints up 26-6 against the Washington Redskins at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Brees had 363 yards passing and three touchdowns as the Saints swept aside the Redskins 43-19.

The game was put beyond doubt in the third quarter when Smith found the end zone on a 35-yard pass from Brees, and Taysom Hill rushed for a yard for another score to make it a 40-13 game.

The Saints got a field goal in the fourth quarter for a 30-point lead, with a Kapri Bibbs rush for the Redskins reducing the deficit with 10 minutes left in the game.
