The 56-year-old cult hero is enjoying a superb return to the iconic venue, where he famously lifted the Claret Jug way back in 1996, and moved under par with a stunning effort on the fifth hole.

Daly has only made the cut at the Open six times from 19 attempts since his triumph here in 1996 but at this rate he could well be entertaining the fans over the weekend.
