Team line-ups

Team Europe captain Annika Sorenstam has called up Catriona Matthew to replace the injured Suzann Pettersen at this week's Solheim Cup.

Matthew had been chosen as Sorenstam's alternate when the line-up was originally confirmed following the Women's British Open and will now be needed to play due to Pettersen's recurrent slipped disc injury.

While the absence of eight-time participant Pettersen will be a blow, this will be Matthew’s ninth Solheim Cup appearance. She has earned 19 points from 33 matches, played from 1998-2015 and was a member of three winning teams in 2003, 2011 and 2013.

At the initial team announcement, Sorenstam picked two rookies among her four wildcards to join the eight automatic qualifiers.

Sorenstam has also added Anna Nordqvist despite her recent bout of glandular fever while two-time Solheim Cup player Caroline Masson was the second of her four selections.

But the European captain opted for youth with her remaining picks and named her compatriot Madelene Sagstrom along with young Dane Emily Pederson for the competition at the Des Moines Golf and Country Club.

American counterpart Juli Inkster had only two wildcard picks to add to her 10 automatic qualifiers, and she also went for inexperience as she named Austin Ernst and Angel Yin.
