The Masters: Tommy Fleetwood missed out on low round of the week by one

Tommy Fleetwood made a big move on day three of the Masters, but a closing bogey cost him the week's lowest round.

The Race To Dubai champion missed the cut on his Augusta debut a year ago, but this time advanced to the weekend having embraced the challenge of playing alongside Tiger Woods over the first two days.

Free now to focus on his golf away from the circus which follows Woods around, Fleetwood came alive on Saturday under conditions which allowed his stunning long-game to sing.

Birdies at the second and ninth saw the Fleetwood turn in two-under, but it was a two at the par-three 12th which really ignited his challenge as four more birdies followed.

However, after a chance went begging at the 17th, Fleetwood produced his first error of the day, taking three putts at the last to turn what looked to be a flawless 65 into a frustrating 66.

"The course was playing a lot easier," said Fleetwood. "The greens were pretty soft and the wind was not really blowing very hard. If there was ever a day to shoot a good round here, this was it.

"It's a bit weird walking off disappointed with a 66. I played great on the front nine without holing any putts and after misjudging a short one on 11 it was nice to getting something going after that.

"Today was just about doing the best I could, my first weekend at Augusta and I wasn't thinking about the lead at all. I got a lot closer and it was nice to play last few holes with a bit of adrenaline, but there's nothing you can do about the other guys."

When Fleetwood tapped in for bogey, he sat in a share of fourth alongside Jon Rahm, Henrik Stenson and Marc Leishman albeit with likely to slip down the leaderboard with conditions conducive to low-scoring on a rain-soaked golf course.
