South Korea’s A Lim Kim produced a masterful final round 67 at the US Women’s Open in Houston to win her first major title.
The final round had been pushed back after only an hour’s play on Sunday due to heavy rain, with overnight leader Hinako Shibuno not able to tee off.
When Shibuno finally got under way on Monday, she was five shots ahead of Kim but that deficit was quickly wiped out.
As Kim claimed three birdies on the front nine, the final day leader struggled and was knocked off top spot by American Amy Olson.
Two bogeys saw world number 94 Kim lose momentum, but she rallied and finished with three straight birdies to finish on three under, one ahead of nearest challengers Olson and Jin Young Ko.
The South Korean’s final round of four under pocked her $1million (£750,550), while Shibuno came in fourth place after a closing 74.
Kim becomes the second woman from her country to win at the US Women’s Open on a Monday finish after Ryu So-yeon in 2011.
England’s Bronte Law had to settle for a tie of 30th after playing the last 16 holes of her final round in five over.
