Day four report
Patrick Cantlay secured his second PGA Tour title in style, producing a sparkling 64 on Sunday to win the Memorial Tournament by two shots.
Cantlay came into the final round four strokes behind overnight leader Martin Kaymer but five birdies on the front nine closed that gap to two as he reached the turn.
And three more gains on the back nine saw him finish the tournament on 19 under par to claim his first victory since November 2017 and earn a handshake from tournament host and 18-time major champion Jack Nicklaus.
Australian Adam Scott finished alone in second on 17 under after a late charge, comprising birdies at the 14th, 15th and 16th, saw him sign for a closing 68.
Former European Ryder Cup star Kaymer was two shots further back in third after three back-nine bogeys derailed his challenge in Ohio.
In an interview shown on the PGA Tour's website, Cantlay said: "It feels great.
"It's been a while since I've won and being able to win on this golf course - a golf course I really like - in front of Jack, making that putt on the last hole, I can't tell you how good it feels."
Cantlay followed up early birdies at the second and fifth with three in a row from the seventh for a front nine of 31.
When German Kaymer - playing in the final group - dropped his first shot of the day on the ninth, Cantlay was just one behind, and he tapped in his birdie putt at the long 11th to grab a share of the lead.
Cantlay continued to create plenty of chances going down the stretch, narrowly missing his 10-foot birdie putt on the 12th before firing back-to-back birdies from the 14th, having come agonisingly close to holing his enormous eagle effort at the 15th.
He curled in his eight-foot par putt on the 18th green to keep his card clean and close out a stunning victory.
Masters champion Tiger Woods finished the week with a 67 to claim a share of ninth place on nine under.
Day three report
Martin Kaymer shot a round of 66 to to take a two-shot lead in the Memorial Tournament in Ohio.
Kaymer began the day tied for the lead with American Troy Merritt and South Korea's Kyoung-Hoon Lee, but they fell away to finish the round in a tie for 10th and sixth respectively.
Former world number one Kaymer finished the day with a blemish-free card, hitting birdies at the third, ninth, 11th, 13th, 15th and 16th holes. It was the lowest 54-hole score of the German's career.
Australia's Adam Scott finished two shots back from Kaymer after carding a second successive 66, while Japan's Hideki Matsuyama produced the round of the day, an eight-under-par 64, which lifted him up 22 places into a tie for third.
Matsuyama also fired a bogey-free round - which included eight birdies - to sit alongside Jordan Spieth, who closed with a 69, and Patrick Cantlay (68).
England's Justin Rose was unable to follow up his second-round score of 63, just two off the course record, which had lifted him to within three of the leaders as he posted a 71 to tie for 10th with Rickie Fowler and Merritt.
Tiger Woods moved up eight places on the leaderboard after a two-under-par 70, which followed scores of 70 and 72 in rounds one and two.
Luke Donald made one bogey and eight birdies for a round of 65, which saw him leap 50 places into a tie for 15th place alongside fellow Englishman Danny Willett.
Day two report
Former world number one Martin Kaymer moved into a share of the lead while England's Justin Rose produced a stellar round of 63 on day two of the Memorial Tournament in Ohio.
German Kaymar, starting round two on the back nine, followed his opening 67 with a 68, a closing bogey on the par-four ninth the only blemish on his day.
He sits at the top of the leaderboard alongside American Troy Merritt and Kyoung-Hoon Lee, of South Korea, on nine under after 36 holes.
But it was Justin Rose who laid claim to the day's standout round, with the Englishman recovering from a three-over-par first round to move to six under overall.
The 38-year-old mixed two eagles and six birdies with just one bogey en route to a round just two off the course record and sits alongside compatriot Danny Willet three shots back of the leaders.
It was a disappointing day for Scot Russell Knox, however, who started the day three off the lead to drop into a tie for 25th on three under, while five-time winner Tiger Woods finished a shot further back after a round of 72.
Day one report
Ryan Moore carded an opening day 65 to lead the field at the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village.
The American birdied five of the first seven holes and then picked up shots at the 11th and 14th holes in a bogey-free round of seven under par.
Moore, whose birdie putt at four performed a full 360-degree loop around the cup before dropping in, told www.pgatour.com: "I don't think I've ever seen a ball go that far around the hole and go in the hole.
"In the five to eight-foot range, they seemed to be lipping out [this season], and today they lipped in a couple of times, so it's always nice to get that stuff going and get the momentum and keep the momentum. It just makes you feel better."
Moore heads compatriot Jordan Spieth, who started on the back nine, by a shot, with Germany's Martin Kaymer and Indian Anirban Lahiri among a group of five men one further back.
Scot Russell Knox, who dropped three shots at the two par-five holes on the back nine, finds himself in a four-way tie for eighth on four under.
Five-time winner Tiger Woods scrapped his way to a two-under-par 70, just as he did in the first round the last time he claimed the title in 2012.
Woods said: "I just need to not make a couple loose mistakes like I did today, and it could have easily turned and shot five or six under par today."
England's Justin Rose, who played alongside Woods and Bryson DeChambeau, found the going even tougher as he finished on three over, as did Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy.
