Manchester United transfer news: Red Devils reportedly make 'world record' offer for Harry Maguire

Manchester United have reportedly submitted a 'world record' £80m offer for Leicester defender Harry Maguire.

The Sun state that the Red Devils will pay £60m up front for the England international, with a further £20m included in add-ons.

It's said that Maguire will travel to Manchester to undergo a medical tomorrow.

United are currently in Western Australia on tour. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side opened pre-season with victory over Perth Glory on Saturday.

The fee would see Maguire become the most expensive defender in history, a tag currently held by Virgil van Dijk after his £75m switch from Southampton to Liverpool in 2018.

United have already seen a £70m bid rejected previously, with the Foxes unwilling to reduce their valuation of the player.

Manchester City were also said to hold an interest in Maguire, but United's huge offer is set to make Old Trafford his destination.

The Sun report that Leicester have already identified a replacement. Lewis Dunk will switch Brighton for the King Power Stadium for a £45m fee.
