Paper Talk: Thursday's football transfer rumours


A round-up of the latest football gossip from Thursday's newspapers.

THE SUN

Real Madrid are prepared to pay Manchester United £60m for David de Gea, a world record for a goalkeeper. The Spanish giants are also keeping an eye on Chelsea's Thibaut Courtois.

Romelu Lukaku has apparently told friends he wants to return to Stamford Bridge to play for Chelsea in a possible £100m switch, and has informed Everton he will not sign a new contract.

Southampton, Everton, West Ham and Newcastle are interested in signing Swansea midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson, who is valued at £35m.

Chelsea's Diego Costa remains a target for Chinese Super League team Tianjin Quanjian, who are willing to pay the striker £620,000-a-week.

New MLS franchise Los Angeles FC will attempt to lure Zlatan Ibrahimovic away from Manchester United with a £5m-a-year deal - although he could be loaned back for the first half of the Premier League season.

Tottenham are chasing Bayern Munich winger Douglas Costa for a reported £30m.

Arsenal are the latest Premier League club to show an interest in Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk, although Chelsea remain the favourites to sign the £50m-rated player.

Former Premier League stars Michael Essien and Carlton Cole have been accused of breaking Indonesian immigration laws, having played for their club Persib Bandung on visitor's permits - an offence which carries a maximum sentence of five years in jail.

Manchester United are the favourites to sign Real Madrid's James Rodriguez this summer, although Arsenal remain an interested party.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is looking to offload Juan Mata, with reports he is keen to sign Benfica's Anderson Talisca as an Old Trafford replacement.
