Euro 2019: Spain U21s through to face Germany after beating France

Spain booked a European Championship final date with Germany after thrashing France 4-1 courtesy of a classy all-round semi-final display.

France took an early lead when Jean-Philippe Mateta scored from the penalty spot a third of the way through the first half, but Marc Roca took advantage of some sloppy French marking to level it up on 28 minutes.

From then on Spain took over with Mikel Oyarzabal scoring in first-half stoppage time, Daniel Olmo extending the lead soon after the break and Borja Mayoral then punishing a lacklustre French team.

Sunday's showpiece is a repeat of the 2017 decider - a game which Germany ran out 1-0 winners thanks to Mitchell Weiser's first-half header.

Two late free-kicks sent Germany through after an entertaining 4-2 victory over Romania in Bologna.

Nadiem Amiri gave Germany the lead after an impressive solo run and strike, before a VAR review saw Romania awarded a penalty, which George Puscas converted.

Puscas completed the turnaround just before the break with a fine header, but tournament top scorer Luca Waldschmidt levelled from the spot after a contentious penalty was awarded just after the restart.

The game looked to be heading to extra-time, but two late free-kicks from Waldschmidt and then Amiri, either side of Leicester defender Alex Pascanu seeing red for two bookings, sent Germany through.
