Spain World Cup squad: No Morata, Alonso or Fabregas in Spanish World Cup squad

Chelsea trio Alvaro Morata, Cesc Fabregas and Marcos Alonso have all been left out of Spain’s final 23-man squad for the World Cup.

Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin also misses out on the final squad, but team-mate Nacho Monreal has made the cut in Julen Lopetegui’s party for Russia.

Morata started every game at Euro 2016 for Spain and scored three goals in five appearances in World Cup qualifying, but he's fallen out of favour with his country as he's struggled to make an impact at Chelsea.

Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas is the top-scoring Spanird in La Liga this season, with the former Liverpool man netting 22 goals, while Valencia striker Rodrigo scored 16 times to help his team to qualify for the Champions League, and they've both been given the nod ahead of Morata.

Manchester United midfield Ander Herrera is another man to miss out, meaning David de Gea, Cesar Azpilicueta and David Silva are the three other Premier League players to have made the squad.

Spain are among the leading contenders for the World Cup, with Sky Bet having them as 6/1 shots to life the trophy in Russia.

Spain face Iberian rivals Portugal in Group B at the World Cup, alongside Iran and Morocco.
