Man Utd transfer news: Inter Milan want to keep extend loan stay for Alexis Sanchez; hand Ashley Young new contract

Inter Milan want to keep Alexis Sanchez on loan from Manchester United until the end of extended Serie A season, while confirming a one-year extension to Ashley Young’s contract.

Sanchez’s current loan spell at the San Siro expires on June 30 but the Italian side want to keep him until the season comes to a conclusion during the summer, now they have been cleared to finish the campaign.

Serie A will restart on June 20 with Inter in third place, nine points behind leaders Juventus but with a game in hand and 13 matches left to play.

Sanchez scored one goal in 15 appearances for Inter having struggled after picking up an ankle injury while playing for Chile in October, but Inter still feel the 31-year-old can offer them something for the remainder of the season.

Sporting director Piero Ausilio, while confirming Young’s contract extension, said that they want to keep Sanchez for the rest of the season before making a decision on a permanent move.

"We want to keep everyone, including Alexis Sanchez,” Ausilio told Sky in Italy. “We are counting on him in the coming months

"Our will is to end the season with all these players. If their contracts are ending, we are going to deal with the situation. The only thing that I can announce because it is official is that we practiced our option for Young.

“We rely on Sanchez in these months, above all to be able to give a definitive evaluation of this player, who was injured and couldn't play for a long time.

"Before this injury he was doing very well. I remember the matches against Barcelona and Sampdoria. That was the Sanchez of his best seasons, both with Udinese and with Arsenal.

"After the injury, he had just little time and then came into this very unlucky period. But now since Serie A is resuming he will have the chance to prove his worth and then together we will take a decision.

"But honestly we both have the interest in ending the season in the best way and find an agreement, then evaluate his future."

United are still thought to be paying three-quarters of Sanchez’s £450,000 a week wages, so may want to renegotiate the terms of the loan move with the deal having already cost them around £6m.
