Ryan Giggs believes Manchester United will have a "fantastic player" when Daniel James arrives from Swansea.
United will pay Swansea £18million, including add-ons, for the 21-year-old Wales international.
James is currently preparing for Wales' Euro 2020 qualifiers against Croatia and Hungary and the Wales boss said at a press conference on Friday: "If it happens Manchester United will get a fantastic player. It's a good move for Dan and a good deal for Swansea.
"He's a level-headed lad, he's been fine in training and he's OK for the Croatia game."
Giggs was clear last week that he did not want any of his players involved in contract talks with clubs ahead of Wales' Euro 2020 double-header with Croatia and Hungary.
But Giggs said at his press-match conference in Osijek: "You have to be flexible because you don't want things weighing on players' minds.
"So if it's sorted it's better for us and for the player as well. He's fine and he's trained well. Obviously after the terrible news (the recent death of his father Kevan) we had to be flexible.
"A lot has gone on over the last 10 days, but Dan has been fine around the group.
"We'll have to see whether he starts for us but, if it (transfer) does happen then United are getting an exciting player that I know that Man United fans will get behind and enjoy watching."
Wales take on World Cup finalists Croatia in Osijek on Saturday, with Ballon D'Or holder Luka Modric expected to lead the hosts.
Giggs said: "They've got a lot of good players - (Mateo) Kovacic, (Andrej) Kramaric - as well as Modric. But we've got quality to cause them problems as well."
Tottenham left-back Ben Davies will be available for both games after he postponed end-of season groin surgery.
