Spain's LaLiga

Barcelona were brought back to earth after their remarkable Champions League victory over Paris St Germain as they slumped to a 2-1 defeat at lowly Deportivo La Coruna.

Joselu, on loan from Premier League side Stoke, opened the scoring for the hosts with just five minutes remaining of the first half at the Riazor.

Luis Suarez drew the defending champions level moments after the interval with his 21st league strike of the campaign, but Alex Bergantinos headed home Depor's winner with 17 minutes to go.

Barcelona's defeat was only their third in LaLiga this season and brought to an end a six-match winning streak in the division, a run which had seen them replace Real Madrid at the top of the table.

Barcelona's defeat provided Real Madrid with the chance to move back to the summit of La Liga and they duly did so after a hard-fought 2-1 victory against 10-man Real Betis.

Madrid, who are now two points clear of Barcelona, trailed Betis following a howler by goalkeeper Keylor Navas in the first half.

But Cristiano Ronaldo pulled one back for the hosts shortly before the interval before Sergio Ramos scored a bullet header from a corner with only 10 minutes remaining.

Betis had been reduced to 10 men moments before Ramos' winner after Cristiano Piccini was shown a second yellow card for his foul on Lucas Vazquez.

Elsewhere, Athletic Bilbao secured a 2-0 victory at Real Sociedad to strengthen their hold on seventh place.

Yeray Alvarez was adjudged to have been fouled by Xabi Prieto in the area and Raul Garcia made no mistake from the penalty spot to open the scoring midway through the first half.

Inaki Williams then doubled Bilbao's lead after 56 minutes when he capitalised on a sloppy back pass by Alvaro Odriozola.

Bilbao's second win in as many games moves them to within four points of sixth-placed Sociedad who dropped behind Villarreal in the table.

Villarreal moved up to fifth after they saw out a 1-0 win at Celta Vigo.

Former Tottenham striker Roberto Soldado scored the only goal of the game as he headed home shortly before the interval.

Sevilla were held to a 1-1 draw at home to lowly Leganes on Saturday.

Jorge Sampaoli's side were stunned after just three minutes when Brazilian Gabriel cleverly back-heeled the opener past home keeper Sergio Rico from close range.

Nabil El Zhar should have made it 2-0 as Sevilla continued to ride their luck before Stevan Jovetic slid home the equaliser two minutes before half-time.

It was the second consecutive game in which Sampaoli's men have dropped points and leaves them two behind Real who have played two games less.

Fourth-placed Atletico Madrid needed a late goal from Antoine Griezmann to see them past struggling Granada at the Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes.

The hosts looked set to cling on for a valuable point until Griezmann produced a superb diving header six minutes from time to grab the victory.

To make matters worse for Granada they had Mubarak Wakaso sent off in injury time for an unnecessary foul on the Frenchman.

Valencia needed a late equaliser from Munir to salvage a 1-1 draw at home to relegation-threatened Sporting Gijon as their frustrating season continued.

The hosts hoped for a strong response to last weekend's 3-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid but instead fell behind on the hour when Duje Cop fired the visitors into a shock lead.

But Munir grabbed an 85th minute leveller to ensure his side avoided embarrassment and keep them in 13th place in La Liga after 27 games of the campaign.

Malaga remained in danger of being sucked into a relegation battle after falling to a 2-1 defeat to 10-man Deportivo Alaves - their fourth straight league loss at home.

Moroccan defender Zouhair Feddal put the visitors in front in the 39th minute but was sent off 18 minutes from full-time for a second yellow card offence.

Substitute Juan Carlos had equalised for Malaga moments before Feddal's dismissal but they failed to make their numerical advantage count and it was the visitors who claimed the points when Edgar Mendez fired the winner in injury time.

Espanyol twice relinquished the lead but still beat Las Palmas 4-3 on Friday as they kept alive hopes of qualifying for the Europa League next season.

Espanyol opened the scoring through David Lopez in the first minute and had a second via Gerard Moreno just before half-time but failed to hold on to the lead as Mauricio Lemos twice equalized for the visitors.

Pablo Piatti put the hosts ahead once again by converting a penalty kick and Jose Manuel Jurado then added an insurance goal in the 74th minute.

Mateo Garcia netted Las Palmas' final goal six minutes before the final whistle.

Italy's Serie A

Mauro Icardi and Ever Banega scored hat-tricks as Inter Milan stunned fellow high-fliers Atalanta 7-1 in Serie A on Sunday to maintain their hopes of Champions League qualification.

Icardi's hat-trick came inside the opening 26 minutes as the striker notched his first after 17 minutes, converted from the penalty spot six minutes later and struck his third soon after.

Banega took up the goalscoring initiative, netting twice in quick succession as rampant Inter found themselves 5-0 up with 11 minutes of the first half still to go.

The Nerazzurri had to wait until the 52nd minute for a sixth, with Roberto Gagliardini netting, before Banega claimed his third after 68 minutes.

Remo Freuler had scored three minutes from the end of the second half for Atalanta, who are now sixth after being leapfrogged by Inter. Atlanta had lost just one of their previous 11 Serie A matches coming into the game, winning seven.

Roma climbed above Napoli into second place with a 3-0 win at Palermo on Sunday night.

Stephan El Shaarawy, Edin Dzeko and Bruno Peres were on target for the visitors.

Earlier in the day, Lorenzo Insigne scored twice as Napoli beat second-bottom Crotone 3-0, with the aid of two penalties.

Insigne's spot-kick gave Napoli a half-time lead, Dries Mertens added a second penalty and Insigne struck a third.

Nikola Kalinic scored in the second minute of stoppage time as Fiorentina beat Cagliari 1-0.

Udinese won 3-1 at rock-bottom Pescara. Duvan Zapata gave the visitors a half-time lead and Jakub Jankto and Cyril Thereau netted within 10 minutes of the restart, rendering Sulley Muntari's strike seven minutes from time mere consolation.

Chievo Verona beat Empoli 4-0, with Roberto Inglese, Sergio Pellissier, Valter Birsa and Bostjan Cesar on target.

Bologna won 1-0 at Sassuolo thanks to a second-half goal from Mattia Destro.

Lazio and Torino play on Monday evening.

Sampdoria scored a historic 1-0 derby victory against Genoa in the only match on Saturday.

Luis Muriel's goal midway through the second half saw Samp complete a league double over their rivals for the first time since 1960 as they moved up to ninth in the table.

On Friday night, Paulo Dybala scored the latest of penalties to sour a fantastic display from teenage AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma as leaders Juventus snatched a dramatic 2-1 victory.

The 18-year-old largely withstood a 90-minute bombardment at the Juventus Stadium, conceding only once in the first half to on-loan Bayern Munich centre-back Medhi Benatia.

He consistently batted away the likes of 90million euro striker Gonzalo Higuain, tricky Croatian winger Marko Pjaca and sharpshooter Miralem Pjanic, strengthening his claim to be Gianluigi Buffon's heir.

Carlos Bacca's equaliser just before the interval looked to have earned seventh-placed Milan a share of the points as they bid to gatecrash the Europa League spots.

But, after the late expulsion of Jose Sosa further weakened an already injury-stricken squad, Mattia De Sciglio committed a foul deep into stoppage time that would have dire consequences for Milan.

Juve, meanwhile, pull 11 points clear of nearest challengers Roma, but their Friday night exertions will have caused unnecessary fatigue ahead of next week's Champions League meeting with Porto.

France's Ligue 1

Paris St Germain recovered from their devastating Champions League knockout to Barcelona with a 2-1 Ligue 1 win at Lorient on Sunday.

PSG relinquished a 4-0 first-leg lead to exit the Champions League with a 6-1 loss to Barca at the Nou Camp on Wednesday night.

Returning to domestic action, PSG won at Lorient to move three points behind Ligue 1 leaders Monaco.

An own goal from Benjamin Jeannot and a Christopher Nkunku effort gave PSG a 2-0 lead, but Michael Ciani pulled one back for the hosts with 22 minutes remaining.

But there was no late drama on this occasion as PSG claimed a 20th win of the season to leapfrog Nice.

Lyon are fourth after a 4-0 win over Toulouse, with the highlight Memphis Depay's goal from the halfway line.

The sublime strike was one of two for the Dutchman following goals from Christophe Jallet and Maxwel Cornet either side of half-time as Lyon enjoyed a comfortable win.

Loic Perrin scored a last-gasp equaliser as St Etienne recovered from conceding a goal in the opening minute to draw 2-2 with Metz.

Ismaila Sarr put the visitors in front and Robert Beric equalised only for Simon Falette to restore the lead.

And Perrin scored in the fifth minute of stoppage time as seventh-placed St Etienne avoided defeat.

On Saturday, Monaco had extended their lead at the top to five points after a 2-1 win over Bordeaux.

Leonardo Jardim's men had to wait until the 68th minute to make the breakthrough but goals from Kylian Mbappe and Joao Moutinho saw them home.

Diego Rolan scored late for Bordeaux but it was not enough to prevent Monaco extending their advantage after second-placed Nice were held by Caen on Friday night.

Djibril Sidibe missed a fine first-half chance and Bordeaux keeper Cedric Carrasso saved well from Jemerson and Thomas Lemare as the home side's frustration grew.

But the introduction of top scorer Radamael Falcao in the 65th minute changed the game and three minutes later he served up Mbappe's opener which paved the way to victory.

Five goals in a one-sided second half saw Guingamp move up to eighth in the table with a 5-0 win over 10-man Bastia at the Stade du Roudourou.

Yannis Salibur broke the deadlock for Antoine Kombouare's side in the 48th minute and Lucas Deaux added a second before Gael Danic was sent off for the visitors for a second bookable offence.

Jimmy Briand, Ludovic Blas and Alexandre Mendy added further goals for Guingamp and extended second-bottom Bastia's winless streak to 12 league games.

Lille moved further away from the danger zone as they fought back from behind to win 2-1 at fellow strugglers Nancy.

Issiar Dia had given the hosts a 31st-minute lead but Lille equalised through a Nicolas de Preville penalty in the 63rd minute and Rony Lopes fired the winner nine minutes from time.

Nantes also moved clear of the drop zone with a dramatic 3-2 win at Montpellier.

Steve Mounie gave the hosts a 12th-minute lead but Prejuce Nakoulma soon equalised then struck his second of the game to put Nantes in front with 20 minutes left.

Ryan Boudebouz thought he had rescued a point for Montpellier when he equalised in the 84th minute but substitute Emiliano Sala won it for Nantes with an 89th-minute effort.

Dijon ended a run of three straight defeats but remain in relegation trouble despite a creditable 1-1 draw at Rennes.

Julio Tavares gave the visitors a surprise 42nd-minute advantage but Rennes substitute Wesley Said equalised just before the hour-mark.

Florian Thauvin scored twice as Marseille beat Angers 3-0 on Friday evening while Nice dropped points in the title chase.

Playmaker Thauvin struck either side of Remy Cabella's goal as OM moved up to sixth in the table, pending St Etienne's Sunday clash with Metz.

Thauvin's first goal was outstanding, curled hard and low with the outside of his left foot from 30 yards after Dimitri Payet unusually opted not to shoot direct from a free-kick, instead disguising a square pass into Thauvin's path.

Cabella ran on to Payet's long pass and rounded keeper Mathieu Michel for the second just 20 minutes in as Rudi Garcia's side took control early on.

The third came in the 77th minute when Clinton Njie created the chance on the right, Morgan Sanson crossed to the edge of the six-yard box despite losing his balance and Thauvin tapped home.

Nice were forced to come from two down to draw 2-2 at home to Caen as they risked losing ground on title rivals Monaco and Paris St Germain.

Ivan Santini's header put the visitors ahead and Yann Karamoh doubled the lead five minutes after half-time after a break from defence. His lob over keeper Yoan Cardinale sat up in the penalty area but Dante misjudged the bounce, allowing Karamoh to finish.

Dante redeemed himself by teeing up Nice's first goal for Mario Balotelli and Anastasios Donis struck in the 77th minute to at least salvage a point.

Germany's Bundesliga

Three first half goals earned Schalke a much-needed 3-0 victory over fellow Bundesliga strugglers Augsburg to ease their fears of relegation on Sunday.

Guido Burgstaller put the hosts in front when he stabbed home from close range four minutes in after the visitors failed to deal with an inswinging corner from Max Meyer.

The Austrian international grabbed his second just before the half hour mark when he converted Maxim Choupo-Moting's low cross from six yards to double Schalke's lead.

Augsburg had a chance to reduce the arrears from the penalty spot when Raul Bobadilla was brought down by Benedikt Howedes in the area but Paul Verhaegh's spot-kick was denied by a great Ralf Fahrmann save.

Daniel Caligiuri sealed the win before the break when he nodded in Sead Kolasinac's far post cross to leapfrog their opponents into 13th in the table.

Relegation-threatened Hamburg secured back-to-back wins for only the third time this season as they came from behind to earn a vital 2-1 success against Borussia Monchengladbach.

Andreas Christensen put the visitors in front after 23 minutes when he powered home Oscar Wendt's free-kick with a fine header from 12 yards.

That advantage only lasted 13 minutes as Filip Kostic rose highest to head Dennis Diekmeier's right wing cross in off the far post to level things up.

But American striker Bobby Wood fired in the winner 10 minutes from time as Hamburg moved level on points with Wolsfburg and Werder Bremen but remain in the drop zone on goal difference.

Robert Lewandowski scored his 100th goal for Bayern Munich as the reigning champions pulled 10 points clear at the top following a 3-0 home victory over Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.

With second-placed RB Leipzig losing to Wolfsburg on Saturday, the Bavarians' easy win at the Allianz Arena, which saw Lewandowski reach an important career milestone with a goal in each half, lifts them into a dominant position to retain the title as the season enters its final straight.

Douglas Costa was on target too, in a game which also saw long-term injury absentee Jerome Boateng return to action as a second-half substitute.

Promoted Leipzig, who in their first top-flight campaign had previously been the surprise leaders, went down 1-0 to lowly Wolfsburg at the Red Bull Arena.

Mario Gomez's ninth-minute goal - his eighth this term - separated the teams and lifted the Wolves three points clear of the relegation places.

With Bayern's nearest challengers slipping up, Borussia Dortmund had an excellent opportunity to try and get closer to the top two, but they instead suffered a 2-1 defeat at Hertha Berlin.

Salomon Kalou's opener in the 11th minute set the tone for a difficult afternoon for Thomas Tuchel's men and it was not until the 55th minute that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang managed to equalise.

With 19 minutes remaining, defender Marvin Plattenhardt plundered a winner that took Hertha above Frankfurt and into fifth, where they are four points behind Hoffenheim.

Julian Nagelsmann's side could have been further clear of the capital club, but they had to settle for a share of the spoils from a 1-1 draw at Freiburg.

Maximilian Philipp put the seventh-placed club ahead before the hour mark, on which former Leicester man Andrej Kramaric levelled to preserve Hoffenheim's four-match unbeaten run.

Elsewhere, bottom side Darmstadt picked up just a second win in 16 attempts as Mainz fell to a 2-1 loss at the Jonathan-Heimes-Stadion.

Aytac Sulu and Sidney Sam - from the penalty spot - boosted the basement boys into a shock two-goal lead before Robin Quaison halved the deficit in first-half stoppage time.

Both teams lost a man to red cards following the break, with Mario Vrancic and Stefan Bell walking for the hosts and the visitors respectively.

In the late game, two goals from Anthony Modeste were not enough to deny Ingolstadt a valuable point in their battle to beat the drop as Cologne were held to a 2-2 draw.

Modeste, the former Blackburn striker, boosted mid-table Cologne ahead with a 15th-minute penalty. But Dario Lezcano sent 17th-placed Ingolstadt inside on level terms when he stuck away Sonny Kittel's assist.

Cologne restored their lead through Modeste on the hour mark, only for Romain Bregerie to score nine minutes later, thus clinching Ingolstadt's first draw since November.

Bayer Leverkusen missed an injury-time penalty, had a man sent off and conceded a lucky equaliser in an eventful 1-1 draw with Werder Bremen on Friday.

Leverkusen had been on course for a regulation win thanks to Kevin Volland's seventh-minute finish, the striker heading home after Julian Brandt's thunderous 30-yard drive canoned off the crossbar.

But everything changed as the game entered its last 11 minutes, none of it helping the home cause at the BayArena.

Zlatko Junozovic's curling free-kick from the deep was poorly dealt with and, when it came free to Robert Bauer at the edge of the area he sent a powerful shot towards goal.

Claudio Pizarro, who had just regained his footing, moved into the ball's trajectory and unwittingly diverted past Bernd Leno.

Leverkusen then had full-back Wendell dismissed for a second yellow card only for Benjamin Henrichs to win a last-gasp spot-kick from Maximilian Eggestein.

Omer Toprak stepped up but was denied by Felix Wiedwald, who ensured the visitors a share of the spoils.

Holland's Eredivisie

Nicolai Jorgensen scored a hat-trick for Feyenoord as they maintained their four-point lead at the top of the Eredivisie table with a comfortable 5-2 win over AZ Alkmaar.

The Denmark international was involved in all five goals and opened the scoring after 11 minutes when he latched onto a slide rule pass from Rick Karsdorp before laying on to Jens Toornstra to double their advantage.

Dirk Kuyt squeezed in a third from a tight angle after 59 minutes before defender Derrick Luckassen nodded in for Alkmaar to reduce the deficit to 3-1.

Jorgensen got his second from the penalty spot and sealed his hat-trick with a composed finish after rounding goalkeeper Tim Krul, with Wout Weghorst netting a consolation in stoppage time.

Second-placed Ajax kept their title ambitions on track with a 3-0 success over FC Twente but they were made to work hard for the three points.

After a goalless first half, Amin Younes broke the deadlock for the hosts after 55 minutes as he swept in Davy Klaassen's pull-back following neat footwork from the Holland international.

Younes turned provider as he fed Kasper Dolberg to slot into an empty net after rounding goalkeeper Nick Marsman for his 15th goal of the season before the 19-year-old striker tapped in his second and Ajax's third in stoppage time.

Relegation-threatened Roda boosted their chances of survival with an impressive 3-1 victory against 10-man Groningen.

Abdul Ajagun headed the hosts into a half-time lead with defender Christian Kum converting Adil Auassar's corner to double their advantage nine minutes after the break.

Dani Schahin increased Roda's lead further after 66 minutes with Bryan Linssen netting a late consolation for the visitors before the striker saw red for violent conduct in stoppage time.

In the early match, Erik Falkenburg and Thom Haye fired Willem II up to ninth as they were 2-0 victors against Zwolle.

Veteran defender Arnold Kruiswijk scored his first career Eredivisie goal as Vitesse Arnhem thrashed Sparta Rotterdam 5-0 on Friday night.

The 32-year-old Kruiswijk ended a 15-year wait - lasting 304 matches - for a league goal as he got the third on the night, helping Vitesse move up to fifth in the table.

Ricky van Wolfswinkel took advantage of a poor back-header to put the hosts in front after 23 minutes before Navarone Foor doubled the lead with 10 minutes remaining in the first half.

It was in the 41st minute that Kruiswijk headed home from close range, and Marvelous Nakamba put the points in the bag as he capped a flowing move on the stroke of half-time.

There was still time for Guram Kashia to add a fifth just after the hour mark.
