Durham have bolstered their bowling stocks ahead of the Vitality Blast by signing South Africa legspinner Imran Tahir for their first nine fixtures.
Tahir, who is placed in the top 10 of both the one-day and Twenty20 international bowling rankings by the International Cricket Council, will be available for Durham's opener against Yorkshire on July 5.
The 39-year-old has played in a number of domestic T20 leagues and last year represented Derbyshire in the T20 Blast, where he took 17 wickets in 14 matches.
He said: "I'm really excited to be heading to Durham for the Vitality Blast. I always enjoy playing in England and hope that my previous international and county experience can help make an impact."
Durham head coach Jon Lewis added: "We wanted to invest in a top-quality player to improve our white-ball squad and we feel that Imran demonstrates our ambition to compete in the T20 format.
"He is one of the best legspinners in the world and will bring a different dimension to our game."
