Following on from last weekend’s successful first outing for Racing Welfare’s Best Turned Out series, supported by Betfair, the charity is pleased to announce that leg two of the initiative will take place this weekend at Newbury Racecourse.
This week’s allotted race is the 1.50pm It’s Not Rocket Science with MansionBet Handicap Stakes at Newbury on Saturday 13th June 2020.
Racing Welfare’s Best Turned Out aims to champion the efforts of racing staff in readying their horses to run. Five runners have been declared for Saturday’s race and all yards with a runner have been offered the chance to submit a short video clip or image of their preparations in the lead up to the race. The winner, who will receive a £250 cash prize, will be decided by public vote via Racing Welfare’s website; voting will be open from 6pm on Friday 12th June to the start of the race when the vote will close.
The initiative offers an innovative, virtual means of judging the BTO for the race and some wonderful behind-the-scenes clips have been submitted. Head to Racing Welfare’s website https://racingwelfare.co.uk/rwbto/ for all the details and to vote for your winner. You can also view the clips and track the campaign by following @racingwelfare on social media or #RWBTO.
Harriet Collins, Marketing Director at Newbury Racecourse said: “A great initiative to support the hard working stable staff and a chance for the public to see the levels of preparation involved and vote for a winner. Thanks must go to our sponsor MansionBet who will be honouring a Best Turned Out for every race across our three-day meeting, with the winner receiving a £25 Amazon voucher. In their absence on course, a winner will be selected by our Clerk of the Course.
"Their generous contribution will further support Racing Welfare’s fantastic initiative on Saturday afternoon in the 1.50pm when the public will have the chance to vote for their Best Turned Out and we look forward to seeing all the entries."
Racing Welfare’s Chief Executive, Dawn Goodfellow, said: “We are delighted that the Best Turned Out series moves on to Newbury this weekend. It has been wonderful to see all the clips sent in from hard working stable staff and to be able to share that behind-the-scenes footage with the racing public and I would encourage anyone who is enjoying the series to vote for their favourite. Many thanks must go again to Betfair for their generous support of this fantastic initiative.”
Racing Welfare is asking that people donate the price of a racecard to its Covid-19 Emergency Appeal when they head to the website to vote for their best turned out. As part of their support of the initiative, Betfair have confirmed that they will match the total amount of money donated to Racing Welfare in the run up to the Palace House Stakes on Saturday, up to the value of £30k.
