Abraham Ancer defeated Sam Burns and Hideki Matsuyama in the second hole of a playoff to win the WGC-FedEx St Jude Invitational in Memphis.
The Mexican was five shots behind leader Harris English midway through the fourth round, but managed to reach the playoff after English dropped five shots on the back nine.
Ancer, Burns - an 80/1 e.w. tip from Sporting Life expert Ben Coley - and Matsuyama all finished tied for the lead at 16 under, but ultimately the 30-year-old claimed his first PGA Tour win with a birdie on his second playoff hole at the 18th.
England’s Paul Casey finished two shots back after carding a three-under 67 on Sunday.
Despite starting the final round just two strokes behind, American Bryson DeChambeau had a disastrous outing which included a double bogey and five bogeys en route to a four-over 74.
It was also a day to forget for South Korea’s Si Woo Kim, who hit five consecutive shots into the water on the 11th to sign for 13 on the par-three hole.
England’s Ian Poulter finished on 11 under for a share of 10th place – one shot ahead of Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy, who closed out his tournament with a four-under 66.
Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre split three birdies with a bogey to improve to eight under, while England’s Tyrrell Hatton and Ireland’s Shane Lowry were close behind at seven and six under respectively.
Englishmen Aaron Rai (five under) and Lee Westwood (four under) were the last of the British contingent to finish under par.
