Thomas Muller celebrates Bayern Munich's Champions League win

Champions League 2020/21 winners odds: Bayern Munich favourites ahead of Man City & Liverpool to win next year's Champions League

Bayern Munich are the early favourites to defend their Champions League crown next season after they became kings of Europe for a sixth time.

Hansi Flick's side became the first perfect Champions League winners after they won all 11 of their games in this year's competition to lift the title.

It was a tight 1-0 victory over PSG, nothing like the goal fest many expected, and a subdued, gritty performance from the Germans after a season full of goals.

The Bavarians finished with the highest goals-to-games ratio ever in the tournament with 43 coming from their 11 games - just two short of Barcelona's record 45-goal haul, which came from more games.

There was also that fantastic 8-2 demolition job on Barca in the quarter-finals, which led to coach Quique Setien getting sacked and questions even being raised about Lionel Messi's future at the club.

The turnaround since Flick took charge in November, with Bayern fourth in the Bundesliga, has been remarkable and the German giants could get even better - hence their place as favourites to win the 2020/21 Champions League.

Bayern have Leroy Sane to add to their ranks for next season to bring in yet more of a goal threat, although he'll have to fight for a place in this side.

Robert Lewandowski continues to score goal after goal, Thomas Muller continues to make them and Manuel Neuer continues to stop them at the other end - the Bayern keeper had a big say in beating PSG in the final.

Thiago Alcantara and the on-loan Philippe Coutinho are the only big names due to be leaving in the summer, and in 19-year-old Alphonso Davies they have one of the brightest stars in European football.

It all adds up to a team that is well capable of going again next year, and in a condensed campaign their huge strength in depth will be a key factor in their ability to try and defend the trophy.

Pep Guardiola: Richard Jolly looks at the Spaniard's last decade of Champions League management

Man City are their nearest rivals in the betting, with Pep Guardiola again unable to even get them into the final despite the millions spent over the last few years - after they suffered another embarrassing defeat this year to Lyon.

Outgoing champions Liverpool make up the top three, with Jurgen Klopp's side going out to Atletico Madrid just before the coronavirus shutdown after a couple of mistakes from back-up goalkeeper Adrian at Anfield.

The window seems to be closing on Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo with both Barcelona and Juventus a big 16/1 to win next year's Champions League, with both clubs having financial issues.

Barca's new boss Ronald Koeman has all manner of headaches to sort out, including having Coutinho, Ousmane Dembele and Antoine Griezmann as three £100m-plus players all not really doing the business.

Juventus, meanwhile, are busy trying to clear the decks by getting rid of some veteran players, includng Gonzalo Higuain, just to reduce their wage bill.
