Cricket tips: T20 World Cup daily bets
2pts West Indies to beat India at 3/1 (General)
Zimbabwe v South Africa
- Venue: Delhi
- Start time: 09:30 (SUN)
- TV: Sky Sports Cricket
For South Africa, still unbeaten in the tournament and safely into the semi-finals, Sunday's clash with Zimbabwe amounts to little more than match practice.
Zimbabwe have acquitted themselves very well over the last few weeks, but they are already out, and this represents one last chance for Brian Bennett to put his name in lights.
The Zimbabwe opener stroked a fabulous 97 not out against India on Thursday to take his tournament tally to 277 runs. Bennett has only been dismissed once.
One the face of it, then, Bennett looks a good bet for top Zimbabwe batsman honours at 5/2, for all a rare failure is surely around the corner.
Moreover, he comes up against a crack pace attack here, and I don't expect the Proteas to relent.
Should South Africa bat first, the prospect of them racking up a huge score on this small ground is highly likely given Zimbabwe's bowlers conceded 250-plus against West Indies and India.
India v West Indies
- Venue: Eden Gardens
- Start time: 13:30 (SUN)
- TV: Sky Sports Cricket
WEST INDIES (3/1) look a sporting bet to knock India out of the T20 World Cup on Sunday and secure their place in the semi-finals.
India began the tournament as hot favourites, but have already been put in their place by South Africa and very nearly came unstuck against United States Of America earlier in the competition.
The problem for India has been a batting line-up that while capable of extreme highs, can come unstuck when a more balanced approached is required.
That was the case against South Africa's high-class attack a week ago, and I do wonder how such a young batting unit, one that has already copped fierce criticism, will handle what is essentially a knockout match at home.
Expect the likes of Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan to keep swinging hard, but that approach does leave India vulnerable to a strong counter-attack.
I've been impressed with what I've seen from West Indies so far. Darren Sammy is clearly doing a terrific job as head coach, and his side have made big strides forward.
The batting is loaded with power, as you'd expect from a West Indies team, and they bat deep, too.
Thursday's defeat to South Africa, their first of the tournament and sole blip, came after they had rallied brilliantly from 83-7 to 176-8 as that batting depth again came to the fore.
Shai Hope looks a good captain, a calm head who bats very well himself.
The muscle comes from the likes of Shimron Hetmyer, Sherfane Rutherford, Jason Holder and Romario Shepherd, with Rovman Powell adding a touch of class at number four.
The bowling isn't as strong and can't match India, but the batting is capable of taking down any opposition.
In fact, West Indies showed up much better against the Proteas' brilliant pace attack than India's young band of trigger-happy shooters, and I'm keeping that in mind when chancing the outsiders at 3/1.
Pressure is such a big man in sport, and nowhere is that felt greater than in India where cricket is probably more important than religion.
I have long held doubts about this India group and its ability to handle those pressures, and West Indies are more than capable of taking advantage.
