Brae Hill is hard to catch right but has previous winning form here. Anaconda finished last at this venue before scoring at Windsor last time while Big Johnny D has looked in the handicapper's grip so far this season but has every chance on today's terms dropped in class. He's preferred to Conry, a dual winner at Catterick last month but facing a tough task at the weights in this. SWEET LIGHTNING has not been the most consistent recently but has been competing in much better company than this and could go very close if producing one of his better efforts.
Big Johnny D (IRE) 17-2 (9-0) Dwelt, bustled up to chase leader on inside and keen, not much room on rail over 5f out and steadied, soon lost 2nd, pushed along and weakened rapidly inside final 5f, tailed off and virtually pulled up final 3f, last of 10, well behind Here Comes When (8-10) at Chester 1m hcp 0-105 (2) sft in May.
Anaconda (FR) 11-10fav (10-0) Took keen hold, tracked leader, led 8f out, hung left to centre of course 3f out, hung badly left and ended on far side rail over 1f out, ridden inside final furlong, strongly pressed in closing stages, always holding on, won at Windsor 1m 2f clm stks (5) gf beating Incendo (9-2) by nk, 8 ran.
Brae Hill (IRE) 50-1 (8-11) Close up, ridden over 2f out, weakened over 1f out, 22nd of 28, 11l behind Louis The Pious (9-4) at Royal Ascot 7f hcp 105 (2) gf.
Capaill Liath (IRE) 12-1 (9-4) Always behind, 10th of 14, 10l behind Dubai Dynamo (9-9) at Chester 1m hcp 0-85 (4) gd.
Conry (IRE) 17-2 (8-12) Towards rear, headway over 1f out, ridden to lead inside final furlong, held on close home, won at Catterick 7f hcp 0-90 (3) sft in May beating Laffan (9-0) by hd, 14 ran.
Cyflymder (IRE) 3-1 (9-0) Close up, effort inside final furlong, no impression towards finish, 3rd of 10, 1l behind Ishi Honest (9-8) at Lingfield 7f hcp 0-60 (6) pol.
Sweet Lightning 14-1 (9-8) Mid-division, pushed along 3f out, weakened 2f out, last of 13, 15l behind Spirit Of The Law (8-9) at York 1m 1f hcp 105 (2) gd.
