BRICK RED was well backed at Ludlow last week and never looked like leaving the money in the bookmakers' satchels. If he's back to his best, a 7lb penalty is unlikely to stop him here as he likes sharp left-handed tracks. Fleet Dawn won at Market Rasen and Sedgefield last summer and was second to the much-improved Mwaleshi at Wetherby last month but his stable run four in this with the booking of useful 5lb claimer Kyle James for Dontpaytheferryman catching the eye. Scorched Son weakened quickly at Kempton last time after winning at Ffos Las and Tim Vaughan's other runner, Amok, also disappointed recently while all of Bin End's victories have come at either Leicester or Ludlow. Dragon's Den seems to need further nowadays.
Dontpaytheferryman (USA) 15-2 (11-1) Led narrowly to 2nd, tracked leader, led again approaching 3 out, headed next, soon ridden, kept on same pace, 3rd of 14, 7l behind Swing Bowler (11-4) at Musselburgh 2m hcp hdl (2) sft.
Fleet Dawn 7-1 (11-5) Chased winner throughout, kept on and no impression from 2 out, 2nd of 10, 9l behind Mwaleshi (10-11) at Wetherby 2m hcp hdl 0-135 (3) sft in Dec.
Amok (IRE) 12-1 (10-10) Chased leaders to before 3 out, soon weakened, 8th of 14, 14l behind Swing Bowler (11-4) at Musselburgh 2m hcp hdl (2) sft.
Brick Red 2-1fav (11-5) Chased leader, led 4 out, came readily clear from 2 out, easily, won at Ludlow 2m hcp hdl 0-130 (3) sft beating Canadian Diamond (11-5) by 8l, 12 ran.
Mubrook (USA) 10-1 (11-0) Towards rear, no extra and pulled up before 4 out, in a race won by Novarov (10-10) at Cork 3m hcp hdl in Mar, 17 ran.
Dragon's Den (IRE) 9-2 (10-3) Held up in touch, ridden and headway before 2 out, weakened next, 4th of 7, 23l behind Quaddick Lake (10-8) at Taunton 2m 3f hcp hdl 0-135 (3) sft in Nov.
Bin End 7-2 (11-2) Led until 4 out, ridden and weakened before next, 4th of 7, 33l behind Laterly (11-5) at Leicester 2m hcp hdl 0-125 (3) hvy in Dec.
Scorched Son (IRE) 13-2 (11-7) Tracked leader until 4th, weakened approaching 2 out, tailed off, 9th of 12, well behind Bourne (11-12) at Kempton 2m hcp hdl 0-135 (3) hvy in Dec.
Gay Sloane (IRE) 9-1 (10-13) Held up in touch on inside, blundered 3 out, soon lost place and behind, 8th of 11, 48l behind Landscape (10-13) at Taunton 2m 3f hcp (3) hvy in Dec.
Capellanus (IRE) 10-1 (11-2) Mid-division, driven to chase leaders 3 out, weakened last, 7th of 14, 13l behind Swing Bowler (11-4) at Musselburgh 2m hcp hdl (2) sft.
