SUBURBAN BAY is still a maiden over fences but will probably never get a better chance to open his account having been dropped a further 4lb since his latest fifth at Worcester, where he weakened up the straight having pulled too hard. If Wayne Hutchinson can keep him covered up, he should have too much pace for these. Up To The Mark is hard to predict nowadays but is another potentially well treated and makes more appeal than recent winners Michigan Assassin and Roc De Guye. Ginger's Lad could run well off bottom weight but Old Pals Act was pulled up on his chasing bow at Stratford and has plenty to prove here.
Roc De Guye (FR) 8-1 (10-6) Mid-division on outside, headway under pressure before 2 out, soon chased leaders, went 2nd last, ridden and stayed on to lead towards finish, won at Stratford 2m 4f hcp 0-100 (5) gd in Aug beating Apache Dawn (10-5) by 3/4l, 11 ran.
Suburban Bay 11-4 (11-0) Held up in touch, took keen hold, mistakes 3rd and 5th, not fluent 6th or 7th, ridden approaching 3 out, soon beaten, weakened next, mistake last, 5th of 6, 16l behind Surf And Turf (11-6) at Worcester 2m 4f hcp chs 0-120 (4) gf in Aug.
Old Pals Act (IRE) 15-2 (10-9) Held up in rear, outpaced 7th, well beaten from next, pulled up after, in a race won by Professeur Emery (11-0) at Stratford 2m 1f nov chs (4) gf in Aug, 7 ran.
Tough Talkin Man (IRE) 3-1 (10-0) Tracked winner until ridden before 3 out, one pace, 3rd of 5, 13l behind General Miller (11-12) at Market Rasen 2m 6f nov hcp chs 0-125 (3) gf in Jul.
Up To The Mark 17-2 (10-13) Led until after 2nd, pushed along before 4th, lost place approaching next, 6th of 8, 30l behind Taaresh (10-7) at Worcester 2m hcp hdl 0-120 (4) gd in Aug.
Michigan Assassin (IRE) 16-1 (11-5) Led to 5th, lost place 9th, headway 5 out, went 2nd before next, ridden to lead flat, kept on, won at Ffos Las 3m hcp 0-100 (5) gd in Aug beating Rifleman (10-2) by 2 1/2l, 10 ran.
Walls Way 66-1 (9-9) Led, ridden and headed narrowly when blundered last, not recover and no impression after, 3rd of 8, 6l behind Burns Night (10-10) at Stratford 2m 3f hcp hdl 0-95 (5) gd in Aug.
Featherintheattic (IRE) 6-4fav (11-8) Led until 2nd, blundered badly 5th, struggling after, well beaten 3rd 3 out, mistake and weakened next, 4th of 5, 38l behind Quarton (10-10) at Worcester 2m nov hcp chs 0-110 (4) gd in Aug.
Ginger's Lad 16-1 (9-9) Tracked leaders, weakened before 5 out, 4th of 5, 39l behind Bennys Quest (11-11) at Sedgefield 2m hcp chs 0-110 (4) gf in Aug.
