In depth

OUR CONOR, a lightly-raced but progressive type on the Flat, produced an impressive debut victory at Navan last month where he was always travelling well and defied a couple of mistakes to win easily. He meets better opponents here but it will take a good one to lower his colours and Dayrina, who was well behind, is held. Brog Deas was slightly higher rated on the level and, after a promising hurdling debut at Thurles, he scrambled home in a maiden at Cork where he would have won convincingly but for a mistake at the second last. South South West beat the consistent Everything Zain at Clonmel and has since won on the Flat while Stocktons Wing also beat the same horse at Down Royal last time and is improving.

Our Conor (IRE) 8-13fav (11-0) Tracked leaders, 2nd halfway, improved to challenge 3 out, soon led, asserted before last, easily, won at Navan 2m 3yo mdn hdl in Nov beating Casual Creeper (11-0) by 9l, 9 ran.

Stocktons Wing (IRE) 5-4fav (10-12) Settled behind leaders, 5th halfway, headway on inner and not clear run before 2 out, soon switched and 3rd 2 out, improved to lead before last, shaken up briefly run-in, comfortably, won at Down Royal 2m 3yo hdl gs in Nov beating Everything Zain (11-5) by 2 1/4l, 6 ran.

South South West (IRE) 7-1 (10-12) Held up in rear and pulled hard, headway from 3 out, went 3rd and ridden after 2 out, led last, stayed on well run-in, won at Clonmel 2m 3yo mdn hdl gf in Sep beating Everything Zain (10-7) by 2 1/2l, 10 ran.

Brog Deas (IRE) 2-5fav (10-12) Chased leaders, closed up travelling well approaching straight, soon on terms, in front before 2 out where not fluent and dropped to second, disputed lead on run to the last and soon led run-in before asserting, won at Cork 2m 3yo mdn hdl in Nov beating Danequest (10-12) by 1 3/4l, 7 ran.

Dayrina (IRE) 7-1 (10-3) Chased leader in 2nd, led 2 out, ridden and headed entering straight, no extra and kept on same pace, 2nd of 6, 7l behind Money Spider (10-3) at Punchestown 2m 3yo hdl hvy in Nov.
