Winning pointer DANNANCEYS HILL went very close over hurdles at Southwell in March. No doubt his long-term future lies over fences but he should be good enough to land this en route. Ifyouthinkso, another winner between the flags, also has scope but may need more time while Imperial Vic should also do better when tackling the larger obstacles. Edmund and L'Eminence Grise have looked one-paced so far but still look the pick of the remainder.
Imperial Vic (IRE) 10-1 (10-12) Held up in last pair, under pressure when hit 8th, kept on approaching last, never near leaders, 5th of 9, 11l behind Maggio (10-12) at Kelso 2m 6f hdl (4) gs in Oct.
Dannanceys Hill (IRE) 5-2 (11-1) In touch on inside, smooth headway approaching 3 out, challenged on outside when blundered 2 out, led last, soon driven, no extra and headed close home, 2nd of 11, nk behind Destroyer Deployed (11-1) at Southwell 2m 4f NH mdn hdl (4) gs in Mar.
L'eminence Grise (IRE) 14-1 (10-12) In touch, ridden and outpaced before 3 out, stayed on to take 3rd before last, no chance with front pair, 3rd of 10, 19l behind Dursey Sound (11-5) at Wetherby 2m 4f nh nov hdl (4) gs in Oct.
Ifyouthinkso 4-1 (12-0) Cl up in mid div, 6th aftr a mile & 8th bef 3out, ld bef 2out, 2l adv last, sow, won at Bartlemy 3m ire ptp in May beating Loudmouth (12-0) by 3l, 17 ran.
Edmund (IRE) 17-2 (11-0) Held up mid-division, blundered 5th, weakened 4 out, 4th of 8, well behind Deise Dynamo (10-11) at Kelso 2m NH mdn hdl (5) hvy in Oct.
Miss Deefiant 50-1 (9-12) Tracked leaders, not always fluent, went 2nd 3 out until before 2 out, soon weakened, last of 4, 44l behind Mulligan's Man (11-2) at Perth 2m 4f nh nov hdl (4) gd in Sep.
Noble Steel (IRE) 20-1 (11-2) Waited with a long way off the pace in rear of mid-division, much closer order in 5th before straight, no impression under pressure and kept on same pace from before 2 out, 8th of 18, 16l behind Serra Nova (11-0) at Cork 2m 2f hcp hdl 80-95 in Aug.
