DOUBLE: Born Ruler and Cock And Bull

Horse Racing Podcast: Royal Ascot Talking Points

Born Ruler can finally get back into the winner’s enclosure in the Book Your Coral-Eclipse Tickets Now Handicap at Sandown.

The four-year-old son of Kingman returned from a 223-day break at Lingfield last month and ran freely when being beaten into second by Party Island over a mile and a half.

He was dropped back in trip to 10 furlongs for his turf debut at Ayr and again had to settle for second as he trailed in half a length behind Pol Roger, with the race not panning out in his favour.

Raised 2lb since those efforts Sir Mark Prescott’s gelding can come on for the run and get back to winning ways.

Cock and Bull can continue his impressive record since being gelded in the Racing & Music Nights At Sandown Park Handicap.

The three-year-old grey struggled in his juvenile season with a best performance of seventh but has had a new lease of life since returning to the track this season.

He was beaten just a neck when stepping up to a mile and a half at Wolverhampton in March, before breaking his maiden four days later at Kempton.

He followed that up with another pair of second-place finishes at Windsor and Wolverhampton, the latter by a short head. He has a 5lb rise to overcome, but the first try at a mile and three-quarters could see his improvement continue, with the first-time booking of champion jockey William Buick hardly a negative.

Attack can go one better in the British EBF Maiden Stakes.

The Wootton Bassett colt was held up on his racecourse debut at Yarmouth before being asked for an effort three furlongs out but found 6-4 favourite El Burhan too good by one and a quarter lengths.

Sure to be better for that experience, John and Thady Gosden’s two-year-old will again be partnered by Osin Murphy and can get the better of stablemate Aegean Sea.

Penzance can hopefully transfer his prolific all-weather form to turf in the Seat Unique Handicap at York.

The four-year-old won four consecutive races before being beaten into second by the decidedly useful Elegant Man on all-weather finals day at Newcastle on Good Friday.

He is up 2lb in the weights since that career-best effort, but is one to keep onside for the excellent Mick Appleby.

River Seine is fancied to break her maiden in the Juddmonte EBF Fillies’ Restricted Novice Stakes.

Karl Burke’s filly ran keenly when a beaten odds-on favourite at Carlisle, having run with promise first time up at Newmarket.

Over the obstacles, the Paul Nicholls-trained Seeyouinmydreams can make it two wins from two since wind surgery in the Janet Denning Fifehead Farms Memorial mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at Newton Abbot.

The six-year-old coasted home by 25 lengths at Fakenham last month when making all under Harry Cobden.

Matterhorn can make it a double for Nicholls and Cobden in the feature Follow@Attheracesontwitter Handicap Chase.

He beat Gower Price by eight lengths in a match race on his chase debut at Ludlow last month and can follow up in a more competitive race off the same mark of 128.
