Frenchmen Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Gael Monfils will meet in the last 16 of the European Open in Antwerp after winning their respective first-round matches.
Tsonga overcame Argentina's Guido Pella 7-5 5-7 7-6(5), while Monfils eased past Ruben Bemelmans of Belgium 6-0 6-3.
There was also a straight-sets victory for fellow Frenchman Gilles Simon, who won 6-0 6-4 against Sergiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine.
Two further Frenchmen, Constant Lestienne and Stephane Robert, were eliminated at the first-round, respectively losing 6-2 6-3 to Germany's Jan-Lennard Struff, and 6-4 6-4 to Albert Ramos-Vinolas of Spain. The latter will next meet Britain's Kyle Edmund.
Belarus' Ilya Ivashka eliminated Robin Hasse, of Holland, 7-6(5) 7-6(8).
Intrum Stockholm Open
In Sweden, Spaniard Fernando Verdasco reached the last 16 with a 6-4 6-2 victory over Matthew Ebden of Australia.
Fellow Aussies Alexei Popyrin and Alex de Minaur were eliminated, having respectively lost 4-6 6-3 6-2 to compatriot John Millman and 7-6(3) 6-7(2) 6-1 to Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber.
There were victories for Americans Tennys Sandgren and Bradley Klahn, who won 6-4 6-4 against France's Lucas Pouille and 6-2 3-6 6-4 over Marius Copil of Romania. Their compatriot Taylor Fritz lost, however, via a 6-2 6-2 scoreline to South Korea's Hyeon Chung.
Slovakian Lukas Lacko also won, beating Japan's Taro Daniel 6-1 6-4, and Latvia's Ernests Gulbis overcame Mikael Ymer of Sweden 6-4 6-3.
