Top seed Julia Goerges moved into the second round of the inaugural Moscow River Cup on Tuesday as she saw off Slovakia's Viktoria Kuzmova in impressive fashion.
The German world number 10, who reached the Wimbledon semi-finals earlier this month, dropped only one game as she triumphed 6-1 6-0 against Kuzmova in 56 minutes.
Second seed Daria Kasatkina also swiftly wrapped up her first-round match, defeating fellow Russian Anna Kalinskaya 6-1 6-1.
Their compatriot Natalia Vikhlyantseva will be Goerges' opponent next after she beat Deborah Chiesa of Italy 6-4 6-0.
Third seed Katerina Siniakova was eliminated as she lost an all-Czech clash with Kristyna Pliskova 6-4 3-6 6-4.
The top seed also moved into round two at the Jiangxi Open in Nanchang, China, as home favourite Shuai Zhang beat Germany's Sabine Lisicki 7-6 (7/0) 6-3.
Other seeds making it through were Magda Linette (third) and Saisai Zheng (sixth) with straight-sets wins over Su Jeong Jang and Miyu Kato respectively.
Fifth seed Vitalia Diatchenko exited having retired due to injury in the third set of her match against Peangtarn Plipuech while trailing 4-6 6-4 3-1.
