Roger Federer beats Denis Kudla in the Gerry Weber semi-finals

Roger Federer is one win away from a 10th title in Halle and a 99th career success after moving into the Gerry Weber Cup final.

The world number one, who needs to win the tournament to retain his position at the top of the rankings, beat American Denis Kudla 7-6 (7/1) 7-5.

It has been far from a vintage week for Federer, having to save match points in his second-round match, but he got through another battle against Kudla.

He will face rising star Borna Coric in the final after the Croatian's opponent Roberto Bautista Agut retired at 3-2 in the first set of their semi-final.

If Federer wins it will be his 99th career title, giving him the chance to reach his century at Wimbledon.
