ATP Tour Review: Svitolina wins 13th match in a row

Elina Svitolina continued her winning run in the opening round of the Malaysian Open.

The Ukrainian lifted the biggest title of her career on Saturday by beating Caroline Wozniacki in the final of the Dubai Duty Free Championships to break into the top 10.

Despite switching continents, she had little trouble making it 13 victories in a row in Kuala Lumpur, beating qualifier Jang Su-jeong 6-2 6-3.

There were two major upsets, though, with second and third seeds Carla Suarez Navarro and Caroline Garcia both knocked out by qualifiers.

Suarez Navarro won the first set comfortably against Japan's Miyu Kato but the world number 201 hit back to win 2-6 6-1 6-3.

France's Garcia, meanwhile, was toppled 7-5 6-2 by 18-year-old Russian Anna Kalinskaya.

Three Chinese players reached round two, with Han Xinyun joining fourth seed Peng Shuai and sixth seed Wang Qiang.
