Tyrone Roberts to join Warrington on a three-year deal from the Gold Coast Titans

Australian half-back Tyrone Roberts has agreed to join Warrington on a three-year deal from the Gold Coast Titans.

The Super League club said they had fended off interest from NRL teams Down Under to clinch a deal that will see Roberts arrive on a three-year deal.

Former Newcastle Knights man Roberts will strengthen the Wolves ranks in time for the 2018 season.

The 26-year-old said: "I'm very excited to be joining the Warrington Wolves. My family and I can't wait to get over there and start this new chapter in our lives. I'm excited to rip in and compete for some trophies and meet all the passionate fans."

Warrington trailed in a lowly ninth in this year's Betfred Super League, after finishing second in the table in 2016, so are looking for a big improvement next term and are priced at 13/2 with Sky Bet to win next year's Grand Final.

Club chief executive Karl Fitzpatrick said: "The signing of Tyrone is a massive coup for Warrington and Super League. He is a player that has a genuine X-factor that will excite the Warrington supporters.

"We had to beat off clubs from the NRL to get Tyrone's signature, this shows where we are heading and that we are building something special."
