Verdict

An interesting contest where all of the sextet can be given some sort of chance but it’s one of the two Hannon runners that gets the vote with URBAN ICON having performed best of those (narrowly) to have run in the Jersey Stakes last time. Behind him at Royal Ascot were Duke Of Hazzard who is now tried in first-time blinkers and Momkin who also trailed in his wake in the 2000 Guineas although his second in the Craven, if repeated would give him a shot here. Turgenev would have caused bookmaking pandemonium if he had held on in the Britannia, another front running effort looks on the cards in a grade he should be comfortable in. The other Hannon runner Motafaawit should not be ignored.
  1. Urban Icon
  2. Turgenev
  3. Motafaawit
