Winless so far this season, but save for a low-key display at Royal Ascot she hasn't done a great deal wrong and latest close third in the Celebration Mile at Goodwood (1m, good to firm) was right up there with her very best efforts. Solid claims down in grade here.

Successful in this grade at Goodwood in May 2024 and several creditable efforts in defeat since, not least when fifth in the 23-runner Kensington Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot in June. However, not so good at Pontefract since and yard saddles a more appealing candidate in Arisaig.

Raised her game when notching third career success in a French listed race in June, but her limitations were seemingly exposed in a Group 3 at Deauville last time and will probably find one or two too good once again. Yard also saddles Bette Davis Eyes and Never Let Go.

Confirmed debut promise when accounting for 8 rivals in a Nottingham maiden (8.3f, good to soft) last month. That bare form leaves her some way short of what will be required here, though, and while improvement is certainly possible given her low-mileage, others look stronger.

Impressed when making a successful start in a 7f Kempton novice last summer and emerged with plenty of credit when fourth in the C&D 1000 Guineas in May. Well held in the Oaks and Falmouth Stakes since, but her sights are now lowered and she could have a big part to play.

Won maiden/novice events over 7f at Chelmsford first 2 starts before a fine second in Fred Darling at Newbury (7f, good). However, looked unsuited by this track when down the field in the 1000 Guineas in May and safely held back from a break in a Sandown Group 3 last month.

Fairly useful filly who added to her 2-y-o debut success when landing the odds in a 4-runner minor event at Cork (1m, good to firm) in July. However, stone last in a listed event tried in cheekpieces (discarded here) at Gowran last month and she looks set for another struggle.

Progressive filly who was a close third upped to 1¼m in a Goodwood listed race in May before proving a length too strong for Cajole back at a mile in the Sandringham at Royal Ascot. Latest Haydock second was no backward step, but she's now 3 lb worse off with Cajole.

Expensive purchase (yard had success with this family) and much-improved when winning on handicap debut on the other course here in June. By no means disgraced when fourth in a decent contest at York recently, but she looks up against it now pitched into listed company.

Winning start to her career on the AW in October and contested listed races next 3 starts, making the frame on 2 occasions, prior to handicap debut success at Goodwood (1m, good) in July. Perhaps the race came too soon when fourth back in this grade at Haydock 11 days later and she merits respect.

King of Change filly who left sole 2-y-o run well behind when winning 6-runner race on the July course here (1m, good) last month. Didn't fare at all badly when third under a penalty upped to 1¼m in an AW novice since, but she looks up against it in this grade.

Runner-up in a soft-ground 7f Group 2 here on final start at 2 yrs, but she hasn't kicked on in 3 runs so far this season and now finds herself with a fair bit to prove.

Forecasts

Elwateen (5/2), Arisaig (10/3), Never Let Go (7/2), Cajole (9/2), Protest (8/1), Francophone (9/1), Sunfall (10/1), Hey Boo (11/1), Troia (14/1), Orange Sky (25/1), Mojave River (33/1), Serving With Style (40/1), Bette Davis Eyes (50/1), Regal Charm (50/1)

Verdict

Though it wasn't the strongest of Group 2s in which ARISAIG was a close third at Goodwood, she deserves plenty of credit for finishing as close as she did given that the race wasn't run to suit (also left with too much to do) and a deserved success is on the cards. The soft ground was probably against Cajole at Sandown and, with a faster surface forecast here, she is feared most. Elwateen has to be taken very seriously now stepping away from Group 1 company and Protest is also shortlisted.
