Better with each run at 2, culminating with length second to Flying Honours in 1¼m Zetland Stakes here in October. Potential for better again this year. Big player.

Unbeaten in 4 starts since his July Course debut second, returning from 6 months off to see off 9 rivals in a 1m Chelmsford conditions race 18 days ago. Smart performer in the making for his top yard.

350,000 gns Australia colt who was strong in the betting and showed why with a comfortable debut win at Newcastle (1m) in February. This a jump in class but there's definitely more to come.

Won a Ffos Las novice over an extended 7f last summer. Stepped up on that form when 9¼ lengths sixth of 8 to Auguste Rodin in Group 1 Futurity at Doncaster (1m, heavy) on final start but he was never involved and will need more again to figure prominently here.

Stepped up on debut to win 9-runner maiden at Goodwood (1¼m, good) last September but well behind Blanchland in the Zetland here on final 2-y-o start. Others are preferred.

Siyouni colt who landed short odds on his 1m Newcastle debut last autumn. The Gosden stable has won this 3 times since 2015, including with Golden Horn. Very interesting runner.

Dual winner over 7f on the July Course here last summer. Best effort when length third to the reopposing Bold Act in Chelmsford conditions race 18 days ago. Likely vulnerable to more progressive types.

Confirmed debut promise when landing the odds in a 7f course maiden last September. Represents last year's winning trainer/jockey combination. Definitely more to come from him.

Bred to be smart and built on an encouraging debut third when winning a 7f course novice in October. Buick sides with Bold Act but still no surprise to see this one in the thick of things.

Forecasts

Bold Act (15/8), Blanchland (10/3), Intinso (5/1), Regal Honour (11/2), Canberra Legend (15/2), Kolsai (16/1), Galactic Jack (22/1), Killybegs Warrior (25/1), Captain Wierzba (33/1)

Verdict

BLANCHLAND went close at pattern level here on his final 2-y-o start and might be the answer with further progress a distinct possibility. Godolphin pair Bold Act and Regal Honour head the dangers. The Gosden stable has a good recent record in this race so last autumn's Newcastle debut scorer Intinso is also worthy of respect, particularly if the betting vibes are strong.
