Runner-up on 3 of his first 4 starts in bumpers and off the mark on hurdles bow in a C&D novice 12 months ago. Efforts mixed since but latest Musselburgh fourth was a definite step in right direction.

Fair form over hurdles in France (18.9f winner) and he stepped up on his yard debut effort when fifth in a C&D novice last month, fading late on. Return to handicaps rates a likely plus.

Fair form on 2 of his 3 starts in novice/maiden company last winter but assessor took no chances with opening mark and he didn't threaten on return/handicap debut at Carlisle (20f) in October.

Little impact over fences last season but he did at least step up on his hurdles return/yard debut when 12 lengths sixth at Market Rasen (18.6f, soft) last month. Blinkers may help from reduced mark.

Fairly useful winner at 17f over hurdles and ran a cracker at Uttoxeter in July. Been below best on Flat/over hurdles more recently but not one to write off on balance.

Friendless in the betting but made a successful return for new connections in a Newton Abbot handicap (21.5f) in October. Up 7 lb but unwise to rule out further improvement.

Maiden pointer who showed much-improved form to make it sixth time lucky over hurdles at Wetherby (19.7f) on Boxing Day, the deep ground posing no problem. Another holding claims with a repeat.

Ended last season in top form over hurdles so, rather disappointing he's been some way below his best over fences/hurdles so far this campaign, well beaten sixth over 25f here in December.

Maiden who improved for the switch to handicaps in Ireland late last year, third at Fairyhouse (19.5f) in November. Rates a likely improver for new yard and worth considering.

Bolted up from a 2 lb higher mark at Hexham (20f) just over 2 years ago. Very lightly raced since and his efforts have been mixed of late, never a threat at Market Rasen (18.6f) 2 weeks ago.

Verdict
This looks wide open and it may pay to take a chance on SOME CAN SING. He ended his time in Ireland with a solid second at Fairyhouse in November and it would come as no surprise to see him do better again starting out for his new yard. Newton Abbot scorer Sastruga and Loughermore head up the dangers, ahead of Show Promise.
