Finally got his act together when winning and Exeter handicap over 3m by 13L last season. Unseated on reappearance but still unexposed at this stage and capable of a bold bid if he jumps soundly.

Strong stayer an infrequent winner these days but won at Ffos Las last season. Never landed a blow when midfield in Welsh National last time out but more realistic claims at this level.

Twice winner of the Devon National over 3m6½f was third in this race in 2018 and has won at this course before. Not convinced he's well handicapped but enjoys testing conditions and stamina a bonus in them.

Gained first chase win over 3m2f at Fontwell and followed up in Sussex National over 3m4½f last time out. Upped 6lb today but looks a different proposition now over such trips and could easily follow up here.

Eight-time winner at up to 3m1f set stiff tasks in Welsh National and Cheltenham Cross Country chase but ran well latest when third to Christmas In April in Sussex National. 6lb better off for that 3½L defeat but suspect rival can improve again.

Had plenty of good days in these sort of handicaps over the years but failed to complete in three of his last four starts and tailed off in the other. Now looks a risky proposition.

Still lightly raced over fences but won twice last season including over this trip at Sedgefield and second over 3m4½f and 3m2f the last twice. Seems progressive but cursory note that his three prior runs on heavy all been sub-standard.

Fifth in this in 2018 but largely below that level since. Signs of a revival at Market Rasen latest when second over 3m3½f however and not ruled out now 7lb below last winning mark.

Christmas In April (3/1), Moving In Style (9/2), Rathlin Rose (11/2), Pobbles Bay (6/1), Coningsby (6/1), Cyclop (6/1), Theligny (12/1), Dawson City (16/1), Morney Wing (25/1)

Verdict

Sussex National winner CHRISTMAS IN APRIL has looked a stayer capable of going to even greater heights in his wins at Plumpton and Fontwell and he is worth siding with in another National here. Rathlin Rose was third to the selection at Plumpton and is weighted to finish basically up sides this time so he is the biggest threat. Cyclop may prove best of the rest after running well last time out.
