- Healthy Pets 'National Hunt' Maiden Hurdle (Class 4)
- 1m 7f 65y,
- 11 Runners
- Surface: Turf
Placed in a couple of point-to-point races last campaign but has struggled in two starts for this stable under Rules including when beaten 78L over an extended 2m2f in a maiden hurdle on soft ground at Exeter last month. Others make more appeal.
Half-brother to champion hurdle favourite Epatante was beaten 4L into second on debut in a Ffos Las bumper on heavy last month. Ought to be even better for switch to hurdles and looks the one to beat providing that assertion correct.
Runner-up in a couple of points (good/good to soft), but 100-1 and pulled up on debut at Exeter and tailed off there subsequently at the same price. Hard to fancy.
Close fourth in 1m4f bumper on sole start in France. 33/1 and always in rear on hurdling debut at Taunton last month. Tongue-tie on for the first time now and likely to be of interest further down the line.
Two fair fifths in bumper showed there is an engine but tailed off twice over hurdles and looks one for handicaps when his jumping improves.
Made a promising start in a Chepstow bumper for Colin Tizzard in October, but couldn't build on that back there on his hurdles debut. Similar effort on debut for this yard but champion trainer always a force to be reckoned with at his home track.
Tailed off at big prices in two runs in the autumn and has been withdrawn three times on heavy ground since. Very hard to make a positive case for.
Showed little in bumpers and tailed off last on hurdles bow at Taunton latest. Can only be watched at this stage.
Good ground bumper winner over an extended 2m1f at Fontwell in May but struggled when pulled up on heavy ground when making her hurdles at Market Rasen in November. Better expected but stablemate Fanfaron Dino preferred.
Cost £185,000 after finishing second on her sole Irish point-to-point start to The Glancing Queen (showed some smart subsequent bumper form). Finished tamely in both races under Rules but wind-op could now see her show her true colours.
