Managed to win a modest maiden when with his former yard back in 2017 but it's been lean picking since. Well held and no impression at Leopardstown last month and easy to oppose again.

Off the mark at the 13th time of asking when landing a Down Royal handicap hurdle over 2m1f on St Stephens Day off a 10lb lower mark. Possible tough ask from revised mark.

Without a win in four starts over hurdles. Lightly raced in 2019 and failed to best an opponent home in a couple of Flat starts in October/November against eight and 13 opponents.

Five-race maiden who has been a long way off a career best effort at Ballinrobe in May in a number of dismal efforts since. First time cheekpieces unlikely to bring about the required amount of improvement needed to play a role here.

Popular veteran winner of three of his 18 starts over timber. May need a few to falter in this contest.

Busy on the point-to-point circuit since returning from a 12 month absence in October before finishing sixth of 15 beaten 45L over hurdles at Down Royal on St Stephens day behind Magic Sea.

Three-race maiden. Not disgraced in a number of starts since October but ultimately has made no impression on any of the main protagonists at Clonmel and Naas last month.

Won three times over timber back in 2015/16 but missed a chunk of time after and showed very little when returned to the track in 2017/18 season. 11th of 15 beaten 32L on return from yet another absence at Naas earlier this month.

Progressive effort when second of 11 beaten ¾L in a Punchestown 2m contest on handicap debut last month before finishing sixth of 16 beaten 5L at Fairyhouse when last seen in November. Worth a check in the market.

Initial form of his first three starts for current connections do not warrant support in this contest following heavy defeats at Listowel and more recently at Punchestown.

Verdict

Hard to see past the chances of the J P McManus-owned DAWSON'S COTTAGE. The six-year-old produced a pleasing effort when second of 11 beaten ¾L in a Punchestown 2m contest on handicap debut last month. Better than his last effort suggests the six-year-old can get off the mark at the sixth time of asking at the expense of the Gordon Elliott-trained Nobel Joshua and last time out winner Magic Sea. It would come as no surprise to see an improved effort from the other McManus runner Fair Minded.
