Built on promise of earlier chases when winning for the first time over 2m2f in a Galway beginners contest on soft ground in September before finishing second of seven beaten 21L over 2m6½f at the same venue last month. Likely to be in the mix.

Ran well in defeat when last seen in April over 3m in a Wexford handicap hurdle. Winner on soft to heavy ground at the same venue over 2m in March and not to be taken lightly on chasing debut.

Without success in the point-to-point ranks before lackluster efforts over hurdles and on chasing debut at Clonmel when last seen in June. Looks up against it on return to action.

Useful 122-rated handicap hurdler but was well beaten and never a factor on chasing debut behind Battleoverdoyen at Galway late last month on soft ground. Down in trip and not easily dismissed.

Not fluent when weakening on sole start over the larger obstacles in a Uttoxeter beginners contest over 2m4f in May 2018 when in the care of trainer Harry Fry. Well held in three starts over hurdles for current connections and faces a tough task.

Not seen since February 2018 and yet to hit the frame in six starts over fences. Well worth a second look on return to action for patient and respected connections.

Debuchet (9/4), Charlie Stout (5/2), Dashing Oscar (5/1), An Fraoch Mor (5/1), Minella Till Dawn (13/2), Brosna George (12/1), The Long Mile (25/1), Ballymac Boy (25/1)

Verdict

The solid and consistent CHARLIE STOUT can take advantage of this drop in trip to land the spoils, winning for the second time over the larger obstacles. The eight-year-old won a competitive 14-runner contest over this trip at Galway in September and can get back to winning ways at the expense of the returning Mags Mullins six-year-old Debuchet, another to appreciate a drop in trip here on chasing debut. Trainer Ross Sullivan was among the winners at Navan on Sunday and his Mahler gelding An Fraoch Mor can give a good account of himself on his debut over fences. Minella Till Dawn, having his first run for nearly two years should not be taken lightly on return to action.
  1. Charlie Stout
