- Windsor's 1866 Restaurant EBF Novice Stakes (Class 5)
- 6f 12y, Heavy
- 11 Runners
- Surface: Turf
Belied odds of 50-1 when sixth on debut at Lingfield (7f; standard) on AW. Now makes turf debut and drops back down to 6f which will be more to his liking given how he faded late on last time out.
0-6 and while he is consistent, he isn't progressing and has actually been dropped 2lb by the handicapper since his latest run when second at Pontefract (6f; good to soft). Ran well here before and so has definite each-way prospects in a weak race.
Rare runner on the level for top jumps trainer. Shaped as though the step up to 6f was just what he required when outpaced over 5f at this track on debut. Does need to prove wellbeing after 168-day absence which tempers enthusiasm. Place claims.
Well-beaten despite finishing sixth on debut at Kempton (7f; standard to slow) in what was an okay novice race on debut. This looks easier though, and the stable are having winners at present. Could play a part if improving though, but does need to.
This represents a severe drop in grade from the class of maidens he has contested so far (which have been won by the exciting pair Quadrilateral & Palace Pier). He is bred to be good, and is subsequently dangerous to dismiss.
Not seen for 151 days since he made a quiet debut at Salisbury (5f; good to firm). Steps up to 6f for the first time, and likely to encounter vastly different ground conditions. Cannot be fancied with so much to prove.
Another low-key performance when well-beaten at Newbury (6f; good). Qualifies for a handicap mark after this, and that looks to be where his long-term future lies. Best to oppose him for the time being.
Sole newcomer in the field. By Mayson. Cost 40,000gns as a yearling. Half-brother to five winners including Solar Magic and Starscope. This isn't an overwhelming assignment first time out, and he could go close. Market check advised.
0-6 and now returns to novice company after experiencing a joyless time of things in handicaps. Drops back in trip to 6f, but is impossible to fancy on all she has shown so far. Watching brief advised.
Produced an encouraging display on debut in what was a modest event over this C&D in August when fourth. Reproduction of that would be good enough to see her involved again, but looks more of a handicap project for win purposes.
Returns from 96-day absence, and should really win this if running to form given the level she ran to in a pair of maidens earlier in the year. However, question mark next to her about why she has been off since July.
