AW winner in January, and ended an eight-race losing run with success last time out at Brighton (1m2f, good to soft), when back on that same winning mark. 6lb penalty may anchor him this time, but can't rule him out.

Dual fast ground winner, the more recent coming at Epsom in August, when 4lb lower. Found it tough from this mark back there last time, but could find a bit more improvement for this step up in trip. Unraced on slow ground.

0-9 so far, but placed on several occasions, including on slow ground. Went close from today's mark at Sandown (1m2f) last time. Major player if headgear can help eek out a bit more.

Soft ground scorer here (1m) in June, when on this mark. Inconsistent since then, and beaten from this mark on her last two starts, but cheekpieces may help chisel out a little more from her.

Went very close a couple of times last season for Ralph Beckett. Well held in all four starts for this trainer in 2019. Has dropped to a dangerous mark as a result, but still has to take an opportunity.

Scored over 1m4½f on AW in March, and proved himself on soft at Chester in May. Gelded prior to his most recent run, when well held, but on a handy mark now and not written off.

Went close with cut in the ground at Haydock (1m3½f) in June, when 5lb higher, but has lost her way since. Bit to prove.

C&D scorer by 7L on fast ground in July. Held on both runs from similar marks to today since then. Handles soft ground, but needs to get back to the form of that previous win here if she is to have any chance.

Won a Chepstow seller (1m2f, good) last month, and could be competitive from this mark, but not easy to see him coming home in front.

Has shown a bit of promise on a couple of occasions in novice events, but well held when last seen on being upped to 1m4f. Initial mark looks stiff on what we have seen.

Shaped as if he might find a race to win last year, but has gone backwards in 2019.. Visor fitted here, but plenty to prove.

Forecast

Hermocrates (5/2), The Dancing Poet (6/1), Venusta (7/1), Isle of Wolves (7/1), Slade King (8/1), Elegant Love (10/1), Mukha Magic (12/1), Seeusoon (12/1), Say Nothing (14/1), Fox Fearless (14/1), Duke of Yorkie (25/1), Sherwood Forrester (25/1)

Verdict

The suggestion is FOX FEARLESS, who has dropped to a dangerous mark and with Karl Burke among the winners lately, perhaps this gelding can come good after a break. Slade King would be a big danger if his headgear helps, while Venusta, Hermocrates and Seeusoon can have cases made.
