Would probably have won a Point-to-point last year but for falling at the last and subsequently sold for £95,000. Has shown little for current connections but clearly brought along with handicaps in mind and could now be a different proposition.

Much better in first time hood when running on well to finish second over 2m1f. Wind surgery since and shapes as though return to this longer trip a plus off this 3lb higher mark.

Off the mark over hurdles here last week over 2m though may have been a bit fortunate as the leaders saddle slipped approaching the last. Has to prove he can be as effective at this longer trip but is 6lb well in having avoided a penalty.

No form to speak at huge prices over various trips and first time blinkers need to have a positive effect.

Didn't show much in two tries over fences and should be happier back over hurdles at this trip though overall form suggests a bit more is needed for win purposes.

Never got into the race on handicap debut last time but early days and the money that came for him suggests better is expected with this long trip possibly in his favour.

Modest form again over C&D last time though that was his first run for a year so could come on for it but does need to.

Showed nothing in three quick runs over hurdles for Venetia Williams in 16/17 season but intriguing that he has now joined top yard and must be watched in market for any clues after such a long absence.

First piece of form at Market Rasen in May when second but backward step when disappointing at Huntingdon since and hard to know what to expect now.

Didn't show much when trained in Ireland and similar story since joining this yard and despite handicapper giving him a chance not easy to be positive about him at present.

Stayed well on the Flat though was moderate. Poor form in three novice hurdles but now handicapping at what should be a more suitable trip so may have improvement in the locker.

Soft ground second in February for Sheena West but little to show for current yard and not hard to look elsewhere.

Still a maiden over hurdles though better effort from out of the weights at Perth on Sunday. Does have to back that up over this longer trip and others preferred.

Yet to finish closer than sixth in 15 races and first time cheek pieces need to have a dramatic improvement.

Verdict

A race where the market needs close scrutiny with many potential improvers in the field. A narrow vote goes to CAROLINES CHARM for an in-form stable with the switch to handicaps looking certain to suit. Solonng is impossible to assess with any confidence but could leave his early form well behind while Chuffy Chuffnell is another who could be capable of much better than previously shown.

  3. Chuffy Chuffnell
