Right back on track when runner-up on chase debut at this track a couple of months ago when beaten just a head. Further improvement expected and has won on soft ground before, so a major player despite the burden of top-weight.

Didn't show any improvement for the switch to handicaps when tailed off in a five-runner affair at Taunton (2m; good to soft). However, he has subsequently been dropped 3lb by the handicapper since then and this a more realistic assignment.

Best to look elsewhere for win prospects, as he is currently in a rut. Pulled-up the last twice and record with give underfoot doesn't offer much encouragement either. Still 3lb above latest winning mark.

Has been steadily falling in the weights in recent months. Dropped a further 5lb for finishing fourth at Worcester (2m; good). Unable to complete in previous two assignments before that, so latest run was an improvement. Has won three times on soft.

Crashed out at the last when booked for second place at Stratford (2m2f; good) at the beginning of the week. Has to prove he is none the worse for that fall, but signs seem positive given that he is turned out so quickly again.

Unable to make any impact of late. Tailed off when fourth at Uttoxeter (2m4f; good to soft) last week. Has a preference for quick ground, so forecast conditions pose yet another question mark for her to answer. Too risky a proposition.

Verdict

There are various levels of trust required to have faith in any of the contenders in this field. In comparison to most of these, LEGEND OF ZORRO is still quite lightly raced and the combination of a drop in the weights and the return to the forecast softer ground is firmly in his favour. A 146-day break may also prove to be a positive for this gelding who represents the father-daughter team of Jimmy and Bryony Frost. Old Harry Rocks surged back to form when coming agonisingly close on chase debut and should prove the main danger ahead of Auld Sod who looked booked for second place before falling last time. A reproduction of that effort would see him make the frame this time.
