Set some stiff tasks last season in staying handicap chases (Classic Chase, Ultima Chase, Scottish National). However, he comes into this with the form he showed when runner-up at Uttoxeter (3m; good) last summer. 3lb below that mark now.

Has done well in small-field affairs since the turn of the year. Slammed the opposition over C&D (had the smart Tea For Two back in second then) but there is a question mark hanging over him regarding the forecast heavy ground.

Course winner on heavy ground in October 2017. Has been in good form lately and recovered from a heavy fall over C&D two starts ago with a confidence boosting third at Uttoxeter (2m4f; good to soft) recently.

Hasn't been able to cope with the 10lb rise he was burdened with when beating the talented Dolos over C&D in October. 4lb below that mark now though and that C&D win was achieved on the forecast heavy ground. Foolish to dismiss.

Verdict

All four of these have some sort of chance, but equally have questions to answer. The trip is a slight worry for Sizing Codelco, since he hasn't ran over 2m4f since 2017. He has found some prestigious chase races too much lately, but would have a squeak on the form of his runner-up effort at Uttoxeter last year. Romain De Senam is now 8lb higher than for his demolition job over C&D, but seems to prefer quicker ground. The forecast heavy ground will certainly not be in his favour and therefore a chance is taken on BEGGAR'S WISHES who is now 4lb below the mark he scored off when victorious over C&D in October, a win which was achieved in attritional conditions.
