Had better form after wind surgery late last year finishing a good second at Catterick just before the turn of the year (had previously won a Wincanton novice). Form since has been poor; cheekpieces/increased trip now called for.

Enjoyed a good summer/autumn last year but hasn't really looked as though she's going to regain that form as yet in two starts back from a break. Has a least slipped back below her last winning mark; still a bit to prove.

Opened her hurdles account (previously a bumper winner) when scoring over this trip at Chepstow off the back of a win op. That looked a fairly weak contest though and she needs to show more going handicapping for the first time.

Steeping forward at a modest level admittedly all the time for this yard opening her hurdles account with an Ayr win last time. This looks tougher (steps into handicaps); mark not particularly generous, not ruled out though (could progress again).

Failed to impress in this race last year (last time she was seen) having gone off too hard (beat one home). Looks to have gone the wrong way having started her career well (won three of her first five hurdles starts); hard to trust now on her return.

Blinkers go on for the first time with the possibility that she's not shown as much progress as expected in handicaps having been campaigned with this sphere in mind. Well backed last time at Ffos Las this has the air of a recovery mission about it.

Most of her form is modest (still to win a race over hurdles; 0-18) but there was a look of a better performance than usual at Ludlow last time. Attracted support and didn't get the best of runs through the race; a repeat of that gives her a shout.

There was a little bit more to like about her run at Bangor last time and with her mark continuing to fall she may have a something more to offer. This looks a little tougher though and she may have to wait a little longer to use her reduced mark.

Forecast

She'sasupermack (11/4), Boutan (3/1), Forget Me Knot (7/2), Get An Oscar (4/1), Vereina (12/1), Western Sunrise (12/1), Foxtrot Juliet (20/1), Foxy Act (25/1)

Verdict

Quite a few of these have something to prove either in terms of form or handicapping and it could well offer a chance for BOUTAN who has struggled to win so far over hurdles (four-time Flat winner) to get off the market if her luckless run at Ludlow last time can be taken at face value. In She’asupermack and Forget Me Knot she faces two mares who go handicapping for the first time having shown their worth in novice company with victories last time although neither is thrown in on their handicap debuts. Get An Oscar looks to be the type that should be able to win a handicap and it will be interesting to see if the strong support she received at Ffos Las is repeated here.
  1. Boutan
  2. She'sasupermack
  3. Forget Me Knot
