Won final start on the level in September and remains in good form since as shown by hurdles win to close 2019. Clearly thriving at present so well capable of a bold bid if handling AW (first try).

Won first two starts of 2019 here, both over 1m4½f before finishing midfield latest. Little room to manoeuvre now handicap wise and more vulnerable over this trip.

10-time AW scorer gained the latest of those over 1m4f at Wolverhampton. Revised mark still well within compass going on form of early 2018 so has to be considered once again with shorter trip no obvious concern.

12-race maiden shaped with promise over 1m4½f behind Glan Y Gors but too keen latest in a small field over the same trip. Shorter trip and bigger field here may help him settle so an interesting sort here.

Five-time career winner returns to last winning mark after latest 10L fourth over 1m4½f here. Certainly not impossible off current mark but step up required overall.

Claimed by current connections after success to end 2018. Outran 40/1 odds when fifth here over C&D on stable debut but a further step up required to make the frame.

Three-time turf winner but 0-9 on AW and recent last of six at Southwell and sixth of nine here after a layoff make others cases more compelling.

15-time career winner but fair to say this surface not favoured judged on 0-19 record. Winless since July and efforts on more preferred surfaces short of his best of late so others preferred.

Won two of last four starts and again ran well here latest when second over 1m4½f with several of these behind. Arrives in good form and just enough room to manoeuvre off this mark so bold bid expected once more.

Not won since June and latest fourth here although a fair effort gives him a bit to fins particularly with second placed Champagne Rules. Minor honours at best suggested.

Lone win came on lone previous visit and AW race back in 2016. Not seen since May so fitness a doubt but mark looks within range and would have to be of interest now back here.

C&D winner in 2017 but yet to fire in four starts for this yard and behind a whole host of these rivals last time out. Big improvement on that required.

Yet to win on AW but back to back thirds on this surface at Wolverhampton coming into this (both 1m1½f) give him legitimate claims and looked somewhat unlucky latest. Marginally longer trip should suit and course configuration also.

Forecast

Cornborough (4/1), Star Ascending (5/1), Champagne Rules (11/2), King Of Naples (7/1), Lucy's Law (8/1), Thawry (8/1), Glan Y Gors (12/1), Restive (12/1), Rockwood (14/1), Bahkit (20/1), Luv U Whatever (20/1), Remmy D (20/1), God Willing (25/1)

Verdict

A chance is taken on hold-up horse KING OF NAPLES who has been getting there too late at Wolverhampton over 1m1½f but this slightly longer trip and longer run in could be just what the doctor ordered so he gets the nod in a tricky contest. Thawry could be suited by this and rates a leading danger with prolific Star Ascending another expected to make a bold bid.
