Signalled a return to form last time when this headgear combination helped and remains competitively treated. Would prefer a sounder surface however.

Picked up cheaply having originally cost 400,000 gns as a yearling. Scored on stable debut at Wolverhampton and best run since also came on Tapeta at Newcastle. His other starts leave something to be desired and new trip a further worry.

On a going day he is a strong travelling type that is generally played pretty late and he hit the front too soon last time. Remains below his last winning Flat mark and underfoot conditions are in his favour.

Fair Flat stayer for Roger Varian who was developing into a useful hurdler until a heavy fall in October. Off since and likely this is part of his rehabilitation with some of the decent autumn hurdling prizes in sight.

Winner of three AW races when stepped up to 1m4f. Handicap mark has suffered since finishing second at Newbury and his pedigree does not suggest he will stay this far.

Forecast

Talent To Amuse (5/4), Sky Marshal (7/2), Al Kout (4/1), Arty Campbell (5/1), Faithful Mount (7/1), Gang Warfare (11/1), Excellent Result (25/1)

Verdict

FAITHFUL MOUNT is dropped in class and has ground conditions to suit off an attractive mark. Add some dubious rivals into the mix and the champion jockey to top it off and the formula for success looks positive. Arty Campbell has to be delivered at the last possible moment otherwise he thinks he's done enough and that was the case last time. Sky Marshall, Al Kout and Excellent Result have to prove themselves over this far and Gang Warfare on this ground. Talent To Amuse returns after being sidelined following a heavy fall in October and is best watched.
  1. Faithful Mount
  2. Arty Campbell
  3. Gang Warfare
