Irish 2000 Guineas entry sets the standard having romped home in blinkers at Chelmsford with some nice types behind. Backed on penultimate start when keen and becoming unbalanced in the Rowley Mile dip so this galloping track should suit.

Hardly a cheap purchase at $550,000 as a yearling and is a half-brother to four winners including Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies winner Halfbridled. Gelded since a promising Haydock debut and a threat to the topweight in receipt of 7lb.

€52,000 son of Teofilo out of a dam who was a turf winner in the US at 5f/1m. Half-brother went well here in 2016, but overall he faces a stiff task and the yard have a modest 5-61 with this age group on AW tracks.

Verdict

GRONKOWSKI is an impressive looking giant of a horse who holds a classic entry. He beat a strong field last time to fulfil the promise of a prior run at Newmarket where he was travelling well until losing his place coming down the hill before staying on up the final climb. This stiff galloping track will help and he is taken to account for Kevin Ryan's expensive son of Galileo, Kings Full. The half-brother to a Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner took the eye on his Haydock debut and could test the likely favourite in receipt of 7lb . Loyal Promise is a Derby entry hailing from a good yard, but one which none the less has a modest record with it's three-year-olds on AW tracks.
